Some British cruisers lost x turret . Due to topweight issues and to make way for extra AA . Now we have spare turrets.  So what to do with it? Small monitors maybe ?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The main battle tanks to send the Königstiger to hell with a vengeance?

River monitors certainly

A flotilla of shallow draft monitors with twin 6" gun turrets.   Either flog them to the USA as Mississippi  River monitors to quell Kentucky seperatists (if any) or  use them as a Rhine flotilla......even the Königstiger  would pause for thought if confronted with  that turret!!

There were such things in WW1 -

The idea of fitting a triple 6 inch mounting from a Colony Class Cruiser on to a river monitor is interesting.

If you take a turret each off a whole class, you will have enough to build another cruiser! ;D

They did with battleships - I was once told that HMS Vanguard was built to use up 15 inch turrets because the turrets, magazines etc were a big chunk of the cost.

Yup - the turrets and guns were spares left over from the Furious-class IIRC, in their original guise before the carrier conversions.

Captain Canada

That Severn is very nice....I like the idea of river monitors with big guns. Who's going to build one ?

They'd make one hell of a rear defence for a Lancaster! That should keep those damned night fighters at arm's length...............  ;D

At the risk of being thought  pedantic and boring,  what weight are we talking about for a colony class triple turret?

I do like Kit's idea of mounting one somewhere on a Lancaster. Six  of the crew are  RAF, and   a company of Royal Marines to man the Mid Upper Turret!
