The Wooksta!

Given the cost of the Magna Spearfish, I'd rather build it as a warplane than a messenger.  I have two to build plus one to repair/rebuild/salvage.

Plus an old Contrail one that may end up as an AEW.

Good point, well made Wooks.

To me the only candidates are the Avenger and the Sea Otter.

I do like the idea of the Albacore. A bit useless as a torpedo bomber, but it was a decent size and presumably could have carried a reasonable load so conversions to a cargo/utility role would make a lot of sense.

Has it really been that long since Rat had an idea ?

Still going with the Avenger. Mind you, the Walrus/Otter/Seagull would be nice. Is that an injection molded kit you guys were talking about ?

Special Hobby have done the Sea Otter as an injection moulded kit, Whirlybird have reissued the MAintrack Vacform Seagull and Olimp have done a resin version bur no injection moulded kit as yet.

Its replacement the Supermarine Seagull would probably be the more suitable model however for whiff purposes

Oh yes, fabulous looking aircraft and it's available as a kit too.

I've got one  ;D It's vacform

Me too, the later Whilrybirds version. It looks really good too, I just may start on it now, in overall FAA Blue it would look great.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Looks like I really started something here. Thankyou for for all your ideas and discussion

I'll be working up a Norseman as a lightish USN COD (got to think of all those escort carriers), 1946 invasion of Japan .

It strikes me that there's enough passion and ideas for this to be a group build.
Whatever.

Just located the info page I was putting together on mine, from what I picked up the B-25 has almost 5,000lbs more payload than a TBM-3R, and more than twice the range.
