Partaking in a 10 day Easter GB on another forum, we were given the following brief.....,

Air Ministry Design specification No. MMM1
Dated 29/3/1965

The RAF / RN have established a need for a long range tactical airborne battleship capable of reaching Mach 1 in level flight but also the ability for landing on Water or Land to refuel / re arm.

It is required to have a both offensive and defensive armament and be able to carry out air to ground / air to sea / under see offensive duties

Due to the cost implications for the MOD this aircraft must be a twin seat, medium bomber style aircraft

Salient points

Speed: at least Mach 1 in level flight
Altitude: at least 44000ft
Range: 2000miles without refuelling
Capable of landing on water / or land

MUST INCLUDE

A PAPERCLIP and SPRING ...........

So after the usual help from Mr Daniel's and his son Jack, I came up with the following.

AVIATION EXCLUSIVE

With news that TCAC, (TC Aircraft Corporation), has entered the competition to design and build a new military aircraft for the RAF and Royal Navy under the Air Ministry Design specification No. MMM1, Dated 29/3/1965, the company has released it`s first picture of a major component of their new design.

It is understood that high level negotiations are under way with a well known stationery company to aquire the second major component, although details are still sketchy at this time as to what that exactly involves.
They have revealed however that large amounts of plastic have been shipped to their factory and a preliminary design will be released to the public soon.

CEO and chief designer Tony Clay released the following statement with regards to the new aircraft.

POWERPLANT EXCLUSIVE

Following last night`s announcement of TCAC`s involvement in building a new aircraft for the RAF and Navy, the company has just released the following pictures of the new designs powerplant.

Compared next to the hulk of a defunct Hunter fighter you can gauge the huge size. While no information was released with the photo`s, aviation experts have sumised the new powerplant is fitted with afterburner capability with an estimated speed of Mach 1.5+

Breaking away from the spoof news reports and just incase a few of you are wondering where the hell I`m going with this conception of which there will no doubt be a few, here are a couple of mock up pictures of the design which is still very much a case of WIP and subject to change.

Another reason for the pictures is to show where the spring will fit into all this. As you will note it is part of the cockpit capsule ejection system. Obviously with a whacking great big intake just above and behind the cockpit, conventional ejection would not be a good idea, so the spring pushes the cockpit infront and then below the main fuselage in an emergency. A sort of downward ejection system which may very well of been considered at this time in history.

Strangely the model under construction bears no resemblance whatsoever to what I pictured in my mind when I read the 1st post.

My mind flew directly to a Mach 1+ airship with remote/AI controlled 6" (or greater) multiple gun turrets fore & aft, & above & below the body with 4"/4.7" secondary armament hanging out the sides, along with an assortment of other anti-aircraft weaponry, &, possibly, aerial-torpedo* tubes &/or -mine* dispensers.
Which completely fails to mention the radar housings & tiny command cabin mounted below the body... or maybe above, if I'm feeling a little perverse.

So, I guess it really does take all sorts!

I think the description has been left open to interpretation Guy. Well, I hope so anyway....

Had a quick redesign of the engine and fuselage layout as I needed to comply with the second crewman and self defense aspect of the spec, so a rear gunners position has been installed. (The pics show the model pre-sanded btw).

BREAKING NEWS

TCAC announced today the aquisition of the second major component for their new design. It is understood that an eleventh hour deal was struck last night with a well known stationery company which includes a two percent share in any future orders of the new strike aircraft.
