The second was another Mach 2 Argosy...

How "bad" is the Argosy kit really? I have one, but the casting is so crude that I haven't really dared to get going with it. I really don't know why as I actually didn't have that much trouble with the Mach2 RB-57 Canberra, but..

If I was to give Mach2 a report card like at school, +B for effort but could do better. Not done much with the kit as I keep getting pulled in different directions by other things

I hate tidying up, I can never find some things afterwards  :banghead:

This time its a set square. One of those plastic triangles you had a t school. I have a small engineers set square, but it's not a flat square which is what I need at the moment  :banghead: :banghead:

While out doing some food shopping today I bought a "back to school" Geometry set that was under a couple of quid so if the missing items turn up I have spares.
Spent the late afternoon and some of this evening cutting up plastic card, not as uniformly as I would like though.  :-\  These will eventually end up as new fins for some Sea Darts which will become Air Darts. The only thing I am unsure about is where the attachment points would be to hang it from an aircraft considering the blocks that are molded on the body of the Sea Darts I have is for mounting them onto a launcher and the missiles I bought come with a booster fitted to it which isn't going to need when air launched.

I really have to learn to keeps parts separate and tidy as well as not to get distracted.

Why?

Well I am doing a little work on a couple of Airfix Phantoms, the currant ones. I have the Aerocraft detail sets and had already installed the replacement vent parts that go just above the exhausts on one kit as well as separating the same parts for the second kit. Que the distraction and my deciding to remove the find and mount from a Fleetscale Sea Dart so I could put fins more relevant to the Air Dart proposed version on to it. I was very good and cleared up the mess made when cutting off the existing fins. Que a mug of Tea and my deciding that I should really get the vents fitted above the exhausts on the F-4......

So after a fairly exhaustive search around the modeling area I had to empty the bin out and to sift through all kinds of detritus, I have also suffered from a cold recently so this was not a great experience. I did however find one of the parts  The thought now being that I could always scribe the vents into the kit part for the missing part. Then I decided to do just one last look on the floor between the desk and the bin and I found the second part  :drink:

Both errant parts now firmly glued into place, they are not going anywhere unless it's with the rest of the kit!

I was at the opticians today for a check up due to a large prescription change roughly seven months ago. Fortunately I was able to get a change in prescription to counteract the change caused by the cataracts that I have.
Today I was told that they can not improve my vision using glasses and that I am no longer legally able to drive and my work is Forty miles away and the easiest way to get there is by car!
Fortunately I have a plan, tis a cunning plan and thank god it doesn't involve turnips...
The optician is referring me to the local eye hospital and I have emailed my works HR department as I don't know if the company's health insurance covers such things as this, if it does the possibility is that treatment can beg done in weeks rather than months through the NHS.
So I'm not going anywhere very fast or far any time soon.

That's troubling. Best wishes for a speedy fix.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

I know where your coming from and can sympathise. Luckily I live in an area with great public transport links.

Hope it can be sorted out ok

It's the start time I am not looking forward to. There are three guys at work who live in a town one stop down the rail line, however two of them start work at 7am and its still a good half hour to three quarters of an hour further to get to work. So tracking the time backwards means I have to get up very early to meet up with them if they are willing to provide a lift.

On a more positive note I am putting to good use one of the items I received yesterday by tarting up the interior of an Airfix Royal Navy Phantom. Not sure that I will use all the parts provided on the sheet such as the throttle leavers and seat belts but the rest of the cockpit certainly looks better than using just the decals that come with the kit. Red Tops and Air Darts for this aircraft, otherwise OOB.
Music wise I have started to listen to some slightly earlier Pink Floyd than I normally do. Atom Heart Mother and Meddle being my new favourites of theirs.

I am finding that this tool or something similar to it is proving invaluable to adding the etch to the model. I just wish I was putting all of them in the right place though  :banghead: :banghead:

The Wooksta!

Try using PVA instead of superglue?

I've got something similar to that Jewel P&P, but that one looks more usable then mine. May need to invest

I've been using UV curable glue on a few of my etch parts recently, gives you manoeuvring time.

Never really considered that Lee, didn't think it would be strong enough ?

After I wrote about getting the parts in the wrong place, I found out that it was an optical illusion partly due to my deteriorating eyesight. The only real problem I am having with the Super Glue is control over the quantity the exits the "Control" bottle which is not always as small an amount as I would like.

The Wooksta!

Put a drop of superglue on something else and use a cocktail stick to apply it to the part?

Sewing needles, the ones with the long shanks. Long lasting and cheap. Can be mounted in a pin vice if you want
