I went back to work today, well it was a half day.

I had a few minutes to catch up so I left work about twenty minutes before one, I got home at twenty minutes before three. Admittedly I did stop for petrol and did a little bit of shopping as well, but two hours is excessive for what is normally a forty-five-minute journey.

The main reason was a crash on the M9 northbound after the M80 joined it, about a third to halfway between junctions nine and ten. Not great at the start of the Easter weekend so caravans and campers in the mix of traffic as well.

When I eventually got past the scene, the M9 had been shut northbound so everything going north on the M9 and M80 were shunted off at junction nine, lovely :-\
I was stuck in the residual traffic, all trying to get past a modern mini with its front stove in and a van-based taxi which had both its front stove in and a BIG dent in the back. Oh yes, when I passed the scene, I and the rest of the traffic was only on the hard shoulder, so that was four lanes of motorway traffic merging into one, and I had an overly polite person in front driving a Volvo estate who was letting almost everyone to merge in front of him. I wonder where Kit was

The traffic when leaving the supermarket was not much better, single lane exiting onto a dual carriageway. So much traffic that only one car was able to get out during a cycle of the lights, at least for the three cycles before I got onto the dual carriageway.

I was glad to get home. (contender for understatement of the year I think)

Somehow, I doubt that was Kit.

That's how I feel every day got to and from Trenton; doubly so in the summer when the Jersey shore gets invaded by that invasive species known as "tourists".

Not me, I've been in Northants all day, and my Volvo is in  Glos.

Motorway hold ups are a real pain, you just can't get off them, no lanes or farm gateways to make U turns in etc. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I got caught up in one of those once in California farm country. A semi truck turned sharply and dumped multiple crates of vegetables across the multi lane road! Salad anyone?

I think that the amount of time spent in the queue was roughly, if not slightly longer than the normal travel time to work or back now that I have had time to think it through.

Modelling wise things are progressing slowly with the G10. I have had to order two more pots of paint. One is travelling from Kent to me as I type this, due to arrive on Saturday, it's the kit recommended paint for the interior so that will be good timing. The other pot of paint I ordered this afternoon, its the IJN Grey for the camouflage, I didn't fancy painting natural metal on this so getting the "correct" grey is good. I have been fettling the bomb bays as the parts fit very, very tightly, almost to the point of part of the fuselage not wanting to close up. Triming the sill around the cockpit glazing is next on my list of things to do, it's another one of the toy-like quirks of the kit. It is what it is though, almost the only game in town though and I got it at a good price from Japan so its what I am building.

An update on the crash earlier today. According to the local newspaper, it was a four-vehicle pile-up, so it was no wonder it was taking some time for me to get through it.

Edit: I have since found out that there were five people taken to Hospital, the incident even made the News

A wee bit miffed this evening. Earlier this week I ordered a thermostatic fitting for my shower and spent extra to get the item delivered to me today, only it hasn't been  :banghead:

I thought that getting it delivered to me exactly when I wanted would be better than having to pick it up from a drop-off point, obviously I was wrong. The delivery company only give an hour within which they intend to deliver, no tracking other than it is at a depot or out for delivery kind of information, no saying of how many deliveries until it's your turn which Amazon provide. I will be a bit more than miffed if I don't get the delivery tomorrow.
