My condolences also, Alistair. Allow yourself space to grieve in any way which works for you. I hope that the help of family & friends will sustain you through this awful time.

As others have put things better than I can, I will just add a 'Me, Too.'

We'll be here when you need us.

Thanks guys.

Generally, I am ok, just now and again I feel low and have little to no drive at the moment. I have six boxes from IKEA and a whole load of kits to go into them but so far I haven't done a thing. I need to put lots of kits into deep storage so that all the part builds can go onto shelves rather than in the bookcases I have on either side of my modelling table. I need those to store items from the table so there is visible space on the table to build things. Clearing kits into the deep storage will also allow more space on the table near the PC so I can erect the paint booth and maybe start airbrushing  :-\

I would post pictures of the model room, but I don't want to traumatise people.

I would suspect your pics to come out more relatable than traumatising to most of us, to be honest. Do I speak from experience? Quite so..

Things have picked up pace a little. I now have a date and time for my father's funeral as well as knowing where most people will be going afterwards for sandwiches etc. I am going back to work on Monday, two weeks later on the thirteenth I will be off again for the funeral. Might see how much time I have left holiday wise and take the Tuesday off as well.

Do you get Bereavement Leave? You shouldn't have to dip into your Annual...  :-\

And like Pellson said, I think we can all relate to having a modelling area the size of an aircraft carrier (well ok, maybe an escort carrier), but ending up working in a 4X6 inch square...  :banghead:

Yes the company has Bereavement Leave, no idea how much though nor if I will need to use holidays for the funeral or not as today is the fourth day I will have been off after having been on holiday anyway. I did ask my supervisor to get HR to phone me as I have a new phone and haven't got my work email set up on it yet. Will see if I still have access on this pc later.

I'm feeling more motivated today so I could end up packing and cataloguing some boxes to move some more of the stash into the loft. These will be boxes Thirty-Five and onwards. I find it far quicker to find something that I am looking for when I have a spreadsheet saying what is in which box and that each box has a designation on the top left corner of each vertical surface.

I had a similar system many moons ago that was linked to a fully indexed and "searchable" Lotus 123 spreadsheet that I'd set up during some "spare" work moments   Unfortunately it gradually became more and more difficult to keep updated until I finally had to admit that Excel ( a package I distinctly dislike) had won the battle of the spreadsheets and ditch it.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Mine has four pages, one of which is a Master List with everything that has been recorded on it and three other pages, one for each of the main storage locations. I will admit that the Modelling room list is a little out of date

Rheged

One of these days, I really must do a proper inventory of the stash, if only to keep Rheged minor's mitts off my stuff .  He's making his own list and is surprised at its size

Madame Rheged is currently reviewing her "works in progress"...........a half knitted "Peter Rabbit" sweater for a grand daughter, three tapestries, a nearly-finished monograph on local flora for the neighbourhood wildlife trust and a book of crosswords.   This is BEFORE we start on the various projects that are in the planning stage.

One of the things I managed to do with my list today, other than received additional items for it, was that I could I could copy the formatting! I had found that when copying items from one page to another, I had somehow managed to overwrite the formatting that makes alternative lines a shade of Grey. This makes it easier to follow each line of information as it's easy to get lost when there is line after line of text  :-\

My condolences too for the loss of your dad: a difficult time for you.

Spot was being his usual helpful self today

He's fast asleep in the Computer chair so I have to use the modelling chair to do work at the PC. I manoeuvred the chairs and the pile of kits around so I could put an IKEA box within easy reach so that I can inventory what I was packing away to go into the loft. So despite his help, I have managed to complete two boxes so far today and one yesterday for a total of forty-two kits. Still loads more to go into deep storage and only three more boxes left.

Taking a break and then it's probably too late for to get more done in the rest of the day. Back to work tomorrow as well.
