Quote from: PR19_Kit on October 29, 2024, 02:28:49 PMBut no matter what you do with the clock, there's still only the SAME amount of daylight!

Yes, but when they go back more of that daylight is in the morning which was deemed better for factory workers and is now deemed better/safer for kids going to school.

As I've said it's never really bothered me other than when in my late teens and I found myself getting home after a Saturday night out and mum was scowling at me and cooking breakfast   We also once tried to persuade a bar manager that the clocks went back at 2-00am which meant it was therefore 1:00am and we still had another hour at the bar

There was also Double British Summer Time in 1940 and 1947 when the clocks went forward 2 hours compared to GMT. It was a way of saving fuel and maximising natural light benefits.

And if you really want to know the history  ;)

This time next week I will be looking forward to driving to Telford in the morning. I still have quite a bit of work to do on at least two models.

On the home front, last week I made a mistake when buying some food, more of that later. When I got home from work today, Spot was around to greet me and rubbed up against me demanding attention, I think he missed me. A bit later he tried to jump onto the shorter bookcase in the hall. It's shorter than the rest as it has to fit under a light switch. However, when he jumped onto the top he dislodged a whole load of magazines and papers that I had been storing on top of it. He was then wanting to go outside but I would have none of that as I had prepared the top of a wardrobe for him using a blanket that he used to sleep on as a pad. I had to pick him up and push him onto the top of the wardrobe where he spent several minutes sniffing at the blanket before going into clean mode prior to entering sleep mode. So success! One happy cat and one happy human as the can is not demanding the computer chair to sleep on! Now, back to the mistake with the food purchase. I had bought frying chips rather than oven chips  :banghead:  and tonight I forgot to have the extractor fan on while the deep fat fryer was heating up. Consequently, the smoke detectors went nuts  :banghead:  Spot, although woken up was not particularly bothered by all the noise. I think that might be because when he stays at a neighbours he hears the smoke detector quite a bit as she is getting on a bit and forgets she has something cooking.  :-\  I am bound to know when he wants to go out tonight as he will be jumping onto the bed from the top of the wardrobe, thankfully not onto the side that I sleep on.

Just uploaded the pictures from yesterday evening's goings-on with Spot

Here he is settling into his new sleeping place

In full clean mode as the ex used to say, and this is the mess that prompted getting him to try the new sleeping place

Yes, that's two cat beds that he ignores, because he's a cat

Finally a picture of him fast asleep as I went to bed.

He did come down once to get a snack, jumped onto the bed, meowed at me then went back to his new sleep area. I ended up letting him out at 1:45 am as I had got up to go to the bathroom and he decided it was time to go out seeing him human was awake.

He's actually a Guard Cat, looking after part of the Stash.

He's not that kind of cat. He only comes home to eat, sleep and on occasion get some attention from me. The pictures are from Thursday and I last saw him Saturday morning.

Things I never thought I would say. "I need to varnish my Mule." It must be up there, but there you go. I do need to varnish my Mule. The Humbrol varnish I had been using was a bit patchy and I have added new decals to the tail which also need a coat of varnish, so that will happen later today. I have also realised that the wing walkways need to go onto the P.1027, I should probably think about some anti-glare panel on the nose for it as well.
Post SMW I am not going straight home, I am now meeting an old friend for lunch on the Monday, and then depending on how much daylight there is, going to the Midlands Air Museum either that afternoon or the following morning. I could go to the Museum on the Monday morning, but I want to take my time so I will wait and see when I wake that morning.

Maybe I should put off procrastinating. I have just taken a fruit cake out of the oven, it's for Telford. I still have loads to do with regards to packing, I bought a new model transport box this morning, I thought it would be easier to put models into a new box rather than try to shuffle two boxes around, especially when I have three more models. We haven't got to the stage of being able to build a TARDIS, so packing takes up space in this universe.

I am preparing a little surprise for Kit but I need the paint to dry quickly as they need a second coat of paint, stuff I should have done days ago.  :banghead:  I am guessing that Kit will be scratching his head over this

I have 200 plastic trays to give away at the show, they are actually covers for optics from my work which would have been thrown out otherwise but I thought that some of the SIG or even other modellers at the show could find a use for them.

Anyway, I may bump into some of you tomorrow evening at the hotel.

Got to Telford in good time. Helped set up the SIG stand, it's the first time I have got there early enough to do so. Got my hotels mixed up  no real problem as where I am is just across the road from where I thought I was  :banghead:
