I've had quite a few enjoyable Christmas parties over the years. Some boring, most not.

My last entry was on the thirteenth and this is now the twenty-first, time for an update I suppose.

Yesterday was the last "working" day of the year for me. I say "working" as all I did was draw a line on my bench and to sweep a floor. There has been very little to do for a good few weeks, but that's not really anything to do here. Modelling-wise, not much has been happening other than ideas running around in my head a bit. I have just received an Italeri Short Sunderland Mk.III and I am thinking of converting it into something else which would involve swapping the wings with my Italeri Short Stirling Mk.III, but now I have had a look at both I may just bin that idea.

I made an order with Peter Hall of Atlantic Models yesterday evening, that will give me the etch for a couple of Airfix 1/600 ships, a County class Destroyer and a Daring class destroyer, The county class will become a Batch 2 vessel with the AEK2 double bedstead radar seeing that I now have one and the Daring etch will be helpful for my upgraded Daring destroyer.

I am also trying to decide what I am going to build next year, the question is what! Leading contenders at the moment are a Swift F.4 armed with rockets of 72 Squadron, Short Stirling ASW Mk.VIII or do I try and finish a few of the part builds that have stalled?

I am also not bothered. No drive and no interest.

A reasonably good day today. A final bit of shopping done, I needed more milk as what I had was unlikely to last me for a couple of days when I am at home all the time, I do have enough tea bags though

I managed to sort out the paint I need to repaint the upper surfaces of my Swift and I ordered the decals earlier today from Hannants who supprised me by sending me notification of their dispatch a few hours later! WoW, on Christmas eve too!

The cat visited for several hours, which was nice of him and I have recently managed to get my speakers re-connected to my amplifier so I can listen to my vinyl again

Christmas day was quiet as expected. I ate too many Puff Pastry Mince Pies bought from Aldi and too many Kit Kat's so I didn't feel like eating anything in the evening. The cat came home again so he got a treat, half a tin of Tuna and all the juice from the tin. The only thing left this morning was a few bits of tuna that ended up under the saucer it had been on. He left at some time after three in the morning and is not long back and smelling of cigarette smoke, so I know he has visited my neighbour as she smokes. I went shopping this morning, and despite having a computerised list on my phone I still didn't get toothpaste, I should have put it on the list, I have now!

I'm still trying to decide what projects I should work on in the cumming year.

So many ideas, and so many models  and so many part complete builds  :banghead:

There will be the odd real word item mixed in with the what-ifs, A Gloster Javelin FAW.7 being one of them, and probably an eduard Bf 109 as well as I bought enough of them since the start of November.

There will probably be a couple of Swifts getting completed as whiffs and I might build a DH.80A as well, most of the backstory for that is already written.

I have made a decision on my core build list for 2025.

Swift PR.6
Swift F.4
TSR.2 at least one, possibly more
HMS Daring, Post mid 60's refit
HMS Dido, r/w Post Ikra refit
Eduard Bf 109G r/w although I have not decided which of the late versions I will build

There may be more, there may be less, but this is what I am starting with as the care of my work for the year. Only the Swift F.4 and the Bf 109's have not been started which is a help.

I was surprised to receive a couple of items today, one by post and the other by courier. The Royal Mail delivered item is already listed in the relevant thread, the courier delivered an Art of Noise album, and then this evening I got a notification that the CD of the same album I ordered has been cancelled, which is the second time that the supplier has let me down. A new item was ordered although I could have bought the MP3 version, oh well, too late now!

I might add a triple build of Westland Wasps to the build list. I have the Air-Model conversion set for the Airfix Scout, The LF Models kit and of course the Rotorcraft kit. I need to find a better reference for which Wasp operated from which ship at which time so I can put them in markings to go along with the ship models I have either started or intend to start.

Nice to be able to connect, or cross-reference different builds.

Actually sat down and cut plastic  :o

Basically just chopped up some plastic strip to match the lengths used in my Leander Limbo bay, but it's modelling. Also sorting out a light for the spray booth now that I have cleared the floor around that area of bench so I can sit in front of it, which should be helpful

Air Britains Helicopters of the Fleet Airm should give the Wasp airframe histories, Squadrons of the Fleet Air Arm, gives the aircraft carried each ship in the appendices.

That will be the one. Geoff made sure I got a copy a while back.

He's not just good at finding kit's is he?

I will keep an eye out for one or hope that when the time comes someone will tell me the info if I don't have the book by then.

So today is the last day of my holiday, I had not seen any point going to work for five and a half hours when there was no work to do in the first place and next to no bosses there anyway. Far better to be at home where I can stay nice and warm and consider what modelling projects to do.
Not only are there modelling projects to do, I have to bookshelves to construct, the tops need cutting to shape as they are going into corners with one long side and obviously a shorter side  I have done all the math, using a web page for a Triangle Calculator, saves messing around with Cos, Sin or Tan   to help me as the shorter side against the wall is one size and the other short side is going to be smaller so that less weight can be on it, it will also look nicer. There happens to be a moulded edge to the shelf I bought so I want to keep that so I had to work out the angles etc which I have done, just not been bothered enough to do anything about it, partly as I am still on holiday.
What I may do is to fix the lid on my cooker. The spring/hinges that hold up the lid went about Christmas, the replacements I ordered arrived in the post today so that is a more pressing thing than building shelves for books that arrived today
After a quiet birthday yesterday, I have been out to the garage I bought my car from! New Years eve they sent me an email reminding me that my car needs an MOT, in Feburary.....
Mind you, going in and talking with the servicing department has meant that I will get a courtesy as well as an MOT and a courtesy car as well, saves me taking holidays, which is a good thing. Talking of which, I wonder if Monday will be too early to book my holidays for Telford this year
