Undercarriage problem solved in part by actually looking at what I had and then realising what I didn't have, namely the doors. Enter a NOVO Firefly kit which donated its doors from the retracted position and some plastic card for the other door which is missing. I go into more detail HERE as I have managed to find the original build thread which is not as old as some I have started and are still in limbo.

Very little done over the weekend, painted the top of the single seat Navy Firefly and sorted out new undercarriage doors for it. Just read the build thread, I did remember corectly, I had filld sink holes in the kit's doors, where they are though as it was 2016 when I did that  :o

Managed to sort out a problem I had with pictures The Rat was posting, he is using Facebook as a picture hosting site and I had an extension of Firefox to stop problems with Facebook which was blocking the images so with the extension removed I can see the pictures

Also started a little work on another old Firefly build, Torpedo Attack aircraft, Novo kits for the Firefly and the single seat Sea Fury which will not only provide the cockpit but the engine as well.

Got around to makeing an adjustment to the modelling bench.

How it mostly was

And how it is now

Not much of a change but it does make it easier to switch on the lamp.

I know JUST what you mean!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

That's just one end of my modeling room, the rest is almost as bad.

It's Wednesday as I write this and I am feeling a little down. I have reasons to be quite happy as since the weekend I have managed to sort out what I am doing with the Pike, the nose is still a little fuzzy in my mind as a lot depends on how the torpedo works on the model. Why am I feeling low, other than not seeing "El prometido" for four weeks, it's also that this is the last week of my furlough so I will have to be back at work next week. I'm starting to envy those who are retired so can do as much or as little modelling as they like, I do get my bus pass at the start of next year though. Life goes on I suppose.... time for another mug of tea...

Measure Twice, Cut Once

As the sub title says, that's the right way to do things. Well it also helps to check what scale your measuring in as well.

I have a lovely little scale rule by Scale Aircraft Modelling. It has both 1/72 and 1/48 scales marked out in feet. Your probably at least one step ahead of me here but I will say it anyway. It helps to measure and cut using the same scale for both measuring and cutting  :banghead: :banghead:

I didn't so when I started to add planking onto the extended wings of my latest project I found the strips too thin as I had measured in 1/48 then used the 1/72 side of the ruler when cutting the width  :banghead: :banghead:

All is not lost as the strips I cut can be used elsewhere but its still a leason learned.

Sometimes that makes all the difference.  And it looks like the arm is now much more practical, being out of the way.
I use lots of IKEA Tertial lamps (much-loved by modellers all over the world, it would seem) and I've added a second switch right near the "head" of the lamp. The way I've set them up around my desk this makes the switch much more comfortable to reach than the original one at the foot of the lamp.
Cheers,
Moritz

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Work,... HuH,  :banghead: :banghead: I have an idiot as a boss. I have been on furlough for three weeks as per the conversation I had with my boss. So I turn up at work today to find out that they were extending the length of the furlough to four weeks. Nice of him to tell me  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Nothing worse than a wasted journey, especially in these rather strange times.

Are you on the Government's Furlough scheme ?

Yup, still I don't like travelling 40 miles to find out that I don't need to be there  :banghead:
