I was with Boots but they thought there was nothing wrong with my glasses, a year or two later and at a different opticians and they find my long distance vision has changed by FIVE dioptics!!!

Gondor

Had a similar experience a few years ago with another opticians, reason I changed to Boots. Must admit I wonder what kind of redress you can have in these circumstances ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

It's in their best interest to do well as word of mouth and footfall affects them in their pocket and as there are plenty of other opticians. Boot's did go through the tests again and found exactly the same results as before, perhaps it was me expecting more of a change, something similar to what I had with the contact lenses, and the required change was not enough to be noticeable where there is more than enough now.

Latest update from my mum today on my dad who will be 90 at the end of the month. He has been transferred to a more normal ward and appears to be doing ok. The real question is how has the surgery affected him, for good or bad which no one will be able to tell until he gets home whenever that is as my mum is really the only one that knows what he was like before he went into hospital.
His leg appears to be fine so it may have been a trapped nerve or something like that which is good as that's one less thing to worry about.
My Fiance's mum and brother have been plotting ganging up on her and have told her that she is to come over to mine this weekend again so she gets a break as she is wearing herself out sorting out all the paperwork, phone calls etc that go with a death. I fully support this, not just because I get to see her again, as she does need to relax and take a break from the stress she has been under.

Good news for a change, well sort6 of. I now have my new glasses  And if I look at the side of them they look like the remains of the glasses the emoji's are holding!!

Although they make it legal for me to drive I am not going to for a day or two as they are such a change from my previous ones that I need to get used to them. The effect that is causing me most problems, I get a little unbalanced at times, is due to the fact that it's like looking through a fish eye lens which is rather unnerving and possibly a little vertigo inducing. Will be going back to the opticians in a day or so to get the lags adjusted so they stay more firmly in place over my ears.

Another down side is that now that my medium to far distance vision has improved I can see how dirty the carpet is

Glad to hear things are going well for you, and hopefully for your Dad also.

It's not dirt on the carpet, it's a long term atmospheric deposition experiment and it shouldn't be disturbed in mid process!!

Your probably right and I bet it was started by the cat as it's dark grey, the same colour as him.

I'm haveing dificulty reading with the new specs, the text appears smaller and further away than I would have prefered. I think I asked for the reading distance to be too far away from me, it's fine on the PC if I have the text size increased but for reading magazines and books it's not working well.

Good news is that I have received the date for my first covid jab

Sometimes you need to adjust the distance at which you hold the book etc. I know I'm teaching you to suck eggs as you will have been there before, but just in case

My mum claims that she doesn't need new glasses, she needs longer arms.

That and increasing the page size on my web browser. It's a little frustrating as the words are in focus, just much smaller  :banghead:

Keeps the brain stimulated adjusting to the difference, which is supposed to keep things from going downhill. Too much. Too rapidly.

A few things over the last couple of days. My car is now fitted with front and rear Dash Cams not for security but in the hope that reporting some of the idiots on the road actually works.
Other news is that my current chest infection is slightly worse so not only am I off work untill the 25th but I have a course of anti biotics to take as well.
More car news is that the garage do appear to have stopped the ingress of water. Just befor I took the car in for this to be fixed I literally had to bail out the rear passenger foot well and I had expected to see a gnome with a fishing rod tring to catch fish from the puddle  Rain from the last couple of days is not showing up inside the car so hopefully all is well
