The size of the Victor bomb bay should be larger as that could carry 35 x 1,000lb bombs

I didn't realise that, thanks

Sorry, got that wrong, Wikipedia says up to Forty Eight 1,000lb bombs could be carried, that's a lot of bombs!  :o

Gondor

Just a few  ;)

That's a lot of scenery moved around... what would the Commonwealth equivalent to the 'Arc Lite' have been called?

Possibly "Pickford", or Carter Patterson.   Or one might use the names of a couple of the WW2 cross channel guns    SCENESHIFTER  or PIECEMAKER  (yes  piece  not peace  maker)

Not quite the same but there's a story of the BPF turning it's firepower on a solitary cyclist towards the end of the War in  order to give the gun crews something to do ! The after action report in KG V's log book allegedly gave the nature of the target, the number of rounds and types fired and the result of the engagement which read "target dived in roadside ditch"  ;)

Dad who served in the BPF always swore it was true, but that all records were erased before they returned home because it might have been seen to have been "frivolous", but then what would a simple matelot know  ;) ;D

'Uncle Target' is good too, I have a copy right by me as I type.

You can imagine it REALLY happening as well.  :o

The gunners in the Falklands were really disappointed by the surrender of Port Stanley. They'd done a Fire For Effect, Fire Gun, Fire Battery, Fire Company, and Fire Battalion.
They were all geared up for Mission: Fire Regiment which would have had every gun blazing..... Then the white flag went up  ;D

Rather dissapointed today,

Expecting a new sofa to be delivered but found out that there had been a glitch and the finance hadn't gone through yet the company had organised both collection of the old sofa, yesterday, and delivery of the new one today which of course didn't happen  :banghead: :banghead:

Not a happy bunny as I only have dining table chairs to sit on in my living room now and no idea yet if the credit has gone through or not and if so when I will be able to get the new sofa!

Not cool... but hey, look at it as just another excuse to sit at the bench and work on some models. ;)

Got a loan from a family member yesterday so paid off the sofa only after I had to go into the bank in an attempt to find out why my card was declined, twice! :banghead: Again that happened when I went into B^Q, a few doors down from DFS and tried to buy some doweling for various modelling projects.

My bank could not tell me anything and after the idiot behind the desk tried to get me to authourise my presence for him to look at my account through my phone app several times he reluctantly asked me to use the keypad he had in front of him the whole time!!  :banghead: :banghead: Eventually, as he could find no reason for the failure and I had not received any notification over my phone of an unexpected fund transfer which was a thought I had which would have been the reason for the failed transfer, we moved the money from my main account into another one and I proceded to DFS and made a very easy payment.

So thinking things might move a little quicker than the finance company that DFS use, and an email from the store asking them to expidite the delivery I thought I would phone to see if I could prempt them phoneing me! Soo much for actually thinking that I could get them to do something other than work at a snails pace. At least 24 hours I was told for it to be in the system!  :banghead:  At this rate I am going to have to take a day off work next week to get the sofa delivered as I am on furlough untill Monday.

Just when I thought things were going my way last week.....

Alastair, you're working on the assumption that the banks are there to make things easier and more straightforward for you.

They're not, they're there SOLELY to make monster end-of-year bonuses for their CEOs, and lots of profit for their share holders. Those are their sole purposes in life....................

Gondor

Nothing wrong with the banks really Kit, the fact that the DFS store treated the aplication fot their 4 year 0% credit as if I had just made a cash payment so that the warehouse started the process for delivering the new sofa and the collection of the old one the day befor! That's the bit that has made a mess of things as I now have to go through the whole delivery cycle again and it's slower than last time, or at least appears to be. In the meantime, no sofa to sit on  :banghead:

John Cleese talked about that in How to Irritate People - Banks.  It was true then, its true today.

That's very "English, old boy". ;D

There was a ship in the Alien Legion comic called Piecemaker. And another in Schlock Mercenary called Serial Piecemaker... ;D

I had to deal with my bank (building society ?) Nationwide the other day and it went very well. They had a lady outside to pre-sort the queue, it was still full Covid regs, and then when you got inside loads of staff to sort your query for you. The only odd thing was that I discovered you can get far more information about your accounts via the App then through the Web Site. I now have the App installed but I do find it odd  My mates daughter says I'm just a "Grumpy Old Man" except she didn't say man ! Oh and they sorted my query out in 5 minutes

I find it deeply ironic that after spending years demanding motorcyclists remove open face crash helmets before entering a bank they are now insisting everyone cover their faces...

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
