Never thought of that, but yes very true.

Have you got the Army out enforcing your Lockdown or is it just certain parts of Sydney ?

Latest update on the Sofa Saga!

After a forty minutes wait on the phone to talk to someone I had a nice chat with a fellow called Tom. Tom was very helpfull and was able to tell me that my sofa arrived in the warehouse yesterday minus the scatter cussions that were part of the order. Big supprise to me as I was being told on the eleventh of this month that my sofa was ready for the delivery date to be sorted and the driver was ready to deliver on Saturday the twenty forth! My old sofa was collected on the twenty third with me having to take a day off work to facilitate this.
I said to Tom that I was wiling to accept the sofa minus the scatter cussions and for me to collect them from the shop or for them to be delivered. Not a problem says Tom, however because I was waiting until lateish afternoon to call them the Distribution team that deals with organising deliveries had finished work for the week so I will not get a call from them until Monday when I am back at work. The earliest that they will probably be able to organise for the sofa to be delivered is Wednesday! That's ten days without a sofa!
It's just one fubar after another!
Going to phone my supervisor and tell him what's going on or not as I am supposed to give a week's notice for one day off work so if I can prime him before work on Monday.

10 days without a sofa!  You surely qualify for some sort of hardship allowance.   ;)

We are now out of lockdown in Victoria but still have somes strict restrictions in place.  Masks at all times outside of ones home for example,  Obviously not when driving and not when exercising.  I take my cycle ride to work and twice daily dog walks to count as exercise.  I really hate wearing the mask but accept the need to do so.
The military are only in certain parts of Sydney.  Personally i'd like to see them on Victoria's Northern border keeping out the infected... :-\

Of course, if the PDRV was a reality then that border (albeit further North than it is now) would already be secure and fortified.

Ah right mate. I've got used to wearing a mask after 18 months or so. The only problem is that when I slip it on to get on the bus my glasses steam up and I can't see a thing  :banghead:

I'm wearing one all day at work.  Have been on and off for the last year.  I've sorted out how to wear it to avoid misting up  but it's the restriction to my breathing I really hate.
I like to walk fast with purpose but when I do so with the mask on it's sucking into my nostrils and mouth and i'm not getting enough oxygen and have to slow down to a stroll.
It also makes talking to customers difficult.  People who are hard of hearing (as a lot of post office customers are) often learn to lip read without realising it until those talking to them are masked.

And when you take your glasses off, it seems as though your eyeballs steam up instead.

Very true. I'm slightly hard of hearing in one ear and the muffling effect of the mask can give me a problem at times.

People also often have to choose between a mask or their hearing aid(s) as both fit behind the ear(s).

The sofa saga continues!  :banghead:

Visited my local store from where I ordered the sofa. Wednesday evening the assistant manager assured me that he would contact the relevant department to get my order upgraded to show that it was fully paid for and to get it delivered A.S.A.p., this is now Friday evening and although I was reassured on the Thursday that I would be contaced so I am now two weeks without a sofa.
I was told that what has happened at each step was wrong, as if I didn't know that , things went wrong from a simple change to the sofa having formal back cussions rather than the more modern large cussions, and in saying modern it's probably goes way back to the Hittites or such if not further but I'm no furniture historian.
So as I have had no phone call today to organise delivery it will be Monday at the earliest that I will get that call and probably another two days after that before the delivery to take place.
I think next week I will try and get a formal letter from work saying how much I get per day and hand that over to the furniture people once the sofa is delivered if the earliest day I can get delivery is a week day as I will have had to take a day off work and use up one of my holidays because of what has been going on.
Talking of days off, one of which I took for the day my old sofa was picked up, they should have picked up the fact that the finance package had not gone through the day before so that the whole mess of my not having a sofa would have been avoided. Yet another item in the litany of things going wrong with this order.
I did ask that they confirm visually that the sofa is the one I ordered and was told that there are checks at various stages to ensure that it is what was ordered to which I pointed out how many times things had gone wrong with the order that should not have.
I now have the feeling that I am being fobbed off when I was told that I should have no further reason to return to the store....

As I need two hearing aids, and having found just that during early trials, my #1 daughter, who's dab hand at sewing and stuff, made me half a dozen masks with elastics that go round my neck. I wear them like a cravat, and pull them up into position as needed.

They told you there was no reason for you to return to the store?!!!! Now that's just rude in the first degree! Once your sofa is finally delivered I would let them know beyond a doubt you will never return to that store again!

That was more because I had gone to the store two nights running to find out what was going on rather than for any other reason, however.... I will be going there to seak recompence or to chase things up if I am still waiting for a phone call about delivery by the end of next week

it shouldn't matter *why* you were in the store, you were there as a customer and that's the reason the store exists - to sell stuff to customers. How else can they pay the staff's wages?
Maybe a helpful hint along those lines might adjust that attitude?

Gondor

Yesterday I was able to get, through our companies very nice new HR woman, a letter which says how much per day I earn. As I will be taking the first opportunity I get too have the sofa delivered and as over 71% of the week is days I work I was thinking that that would be a good starting point for compensation as I have already taken a day off work and ended up with no sofa so I will be missing a day's holiday so the amount makes perfect sense to me. I could also push for a day's income in compensation  per week without the sofa.

Some good news for a change....

I should get the sofa on Monday  :-\

That means another day off work but it's a little better than having to wait until Wednesday! The scatter cussions are still not available but I can live without them for a bit, the sofa, not so much especially as I have found out that another series of Celebrity Mastercheif is on as well as another series of The Repair Shop all of which means sitting down more comfortably than I do at the moment, and no that dosn't mean a trip to a Proctologist!
