When clearing a recalcitrant hot glue gun, DO NOT get hot glue on your fingers. It's hot: trust me on this..... :banghead:

I hope not hot enough to burn?

Yep, two lovely little snake-shaped burns, thankfully on the back of my fingers where they don't get in the way much....

Erm, that's WHY they're called 'HOT Glue Guns', the clue is in the first word of the title.......... :o

Yes, I know, but it wasn't feeding any glue, hot or otherwise. Then as I was fiddling with it, it suddenly splurged a load out, some of which went on me.

Actually, I think the key word is the last one in the title: GUN.  When clearing a stoppage, always keep it pointed in a safe direction......

Why am I suddenly thinking Elmer Fudd trying to clear a blockage in his shotgun?

Pretty accurate mental image, but without Elmer's gazelle-like grace and serene self-composure.........

Somehow that always got Elmer in the face. You were much more fortunate.
