the main purpose of this aircraft was until now secret, but you just revealed it :
it was meant to make you talk  in which it had some success 
Antoher purpose was of course fun ;
and a last purpose was to contribute to the decrease of my stash  this latter can bring you to funny ideas sometimes ...

I think it's more like a firefighter with a **** big fuselage tank for water-bombing or dispensation of other fire retardants. Note too the rear clamshell dispenser for quadcopter observation drones to clear the retardant cloud, much as the RA-5 Vigilante dispensed its bomb load to clear the sonic shock waves. I mean, with those wings and engines, you aren't going to need air brakes.

I'm sorely tempted to do that with some stuff from The Loft and paint it in 'proper' scheme, with due deference to Ericr's mono-colour original of course.

I do realize that some of my choices are quite personal 
and there are obvious potential improvements, like for example having some putty on the sides to have them less flat
(by the way, the Matchbox/Revell kit is particularly nice for whiffing because the engines are with the wings),
or having wheel arrangements that would keep the payload bay openable.

But the whole point about having the flats on the side of the fuselage is that they look JUST like Sideways Looking Airborne Radar panels.

it is the Revell 1/72 Buccaneer S Mk.2B, a reboxing of the Matchbox classic : there you will obtain extreme flatness indeed! 
(with just a few guides for the wings, to be arased)
