Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Must admit that it's got me thinking of a "slip wing" Yak. Might be a way of carrying more fule to compensate for early jet engines heavy fuel use. Use the fuel in the upper wing to get to the combat zone and then "slip" it and go into combat mode.
