I stumbled upon these :
(I didn't remember to have seen them anywhere)

what a nice Whiffing material !
I don't know yet what I will do with them, but I'll keep you posted ...

Do you know any other such insect kits?

here we go, I used the first one : crossed the coccinella with a 1/43 citroen 2cv like this :

the VW beetle would have been much too obvious a choice
and like this it looks nice too, the scale-mix fits nicely :

Of course I did it both ways : the wheeled coccinella

and the legged 2cv :

So the original Beetle Bug ?

Genius sir  You have such a creative mind

Excellent.  Shades of the Cat Bus in My Neighbour Totoro.  Very good.

thanks for your appreciation!
If there were a crazy/zany/wacky but with poetry category I'd be happy to go for it  ;D

Just discovered this wonderful thread.

This 1972 album cover by  Roger Dean carries a drawing of an actual model made some years earlier. Possibly my favourite hybrid whiff ever. He did others, too. Collecting his album covers is something I do on those rare occasions when I have cash in hand.

Cheers.

a very inspiring image indeed : it would just need a bird skull, and then choose a SR71 kit of the appropriate scale.
I have to go and look for a bird head : I still have heads from the Lindberg American Eagle ...

ahother kind of hybridization : giving wings to bottles :

this is a Sopwith Camel (1/32) upon a belgian beer bottle (I liked the top/cork) of the brand "Paix Dieu"

NARSES2

The use of the stopper as the pilot is just artistic genius

I don't think I share this one with you, a bit older :

a 1/144 Space Shuttle crossed with a bottle form a well-known sweet soda brand :

Captain Canada

Love the beetles. The one looks like a computer mouse while the other just looks creepy !

The bottles are just excellent. Love them both.

CANADA KICKS arse !!!!

Long Live the Commonwealth !!!
Vive les Canadiens !
Where's my beer ?

ericr

and now ... the jet versions of the flying bottles :

you might remember I used a few F100 Supersabres cut in two :

backs  for a Cadillac Ranch inspired alignment :

and fronts coming out of the grey :

here come their wings, which were not lost for all :

with another soda bottle of a well known brand :

and with a can of yet another soda brand :

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Are you having to empty them yourself?

it is indeed integral part of my approach to whiffing and modelling
:drink:

(but *not* the source of inspiration, mind you !  )
