It looks odd, with something missing, until you realise that it DOESN'T have the turbos and radiators bulging out of the booms.

Uh? British Lockheed Lightnings had no turbo I have heard. Even as 1/72 model:

667 were ordered by the Anglo-French Purchasing Commission as the Model 322-61-03 (or 322-F) for France and
322-61-04 (or 322-B) for Britain. All powered by the same , non turbo-supercharged, unhanded V-1710-C15 as
the Curtiss Hawk 81As already on order.

143 were built, three went to the RAF as Lightning I, 140 were retained by the USAAC/USAAF for trainers
with the non-standard designation P-322. Twenty of these kept their original unhanded engines, the others
were converted to use handed V-1710-27 and -29 engines but were not equipped with turbo-superchargers.

Anyway, turbo or not those P-38/322 looked very similar, I prefer ericr's one with tiny engines...

Do you mean "blades" of propellers or entire propellers (contra-rotating)?

Propeller blades. Noncontra-rotating.

Painted in a USAAC NMF scheme that'd pass for some sort of Lockheed crew transport, it looks so 'right'.
