my a 320 ags is now ready

Looking interesting, BTW have you got the references for this Project as we may need it as its not covered in the British reference publications we have.

I've looked through my library, but I only have a few artist impressions and a leaflet of this project. There wasn't anything useful on the Airbus or EADS websites either (even around 2007 when the project was active).

TYPE: Airborne ground surveillance system.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: International

PROGRAMME: Northrop Grumman recommended the A321 as its preferred Joint STARS platform  to compete for NATO's AGS (airborne ground surveillance) requirement. Considered in 1996 and rejected on cost grounds, the A321 was reconsidered in the light of NATO's unwillingness to accept a Boeing 707-based solution. Plans called for selection in 2002 and IOC, with six aircraft, by 2007, but implementation delayed by US refusal to release all technology. Northrop Grumman's AGS proposal features the US Army's AN/APY-X RTIP (Radar Technology Insertion Program) with an underfuselage electronically scanned antenna array, giving spot/swath SAR, wide area MTl, ultra-high resolution SAR, inverse SAR and long-range high-resolution MTI modes.

It would have between 10 and 12 operator stations. By 2002, Northrop Grumman, EADS and Galileo Avionica promoting TIPS (Transatlantic Industrial Proposed Solution) based on A3I9/A320/A321 airframe and with participation of wide range of subcontractors throughout NATO countries; target IOC of 2010, given 2003 political decision, would involve estimated four aircraft and 18 ground stations to provide minimum singleorbit coverage; full requirement may be 12 and 48, respectively, although six and 24 would ensure two simultaneous missions. Promotion continued into 2003, with addition to programme of UAVs as 'gap-fillers'.

Cheers Lenny, knew there was something but like Harro couldn't find a current usable reference for it.

OK as were nearing the finishing line and have an idea what projects will be completed in time, what will go to the wire and what won't have a cat in hell chance of making it.

In my case the AEW Andover won't make it as way too much work to do in the time i have left to work on it, and the P-3 Orion whilst doable, won't be practical to complete due to the space in the car I'm getting a lift in and on the table at Telford. However i will be able to get a couple of the smaller builds completed such as the early Crowsnest Merlin, another P139 Bucc and a pair of FAA interceptors.

Anyway can you let me know either on here or via PM what models are going to be ready for the SMW Project Cancelled SIG display (remember these are real documented projects, sorry anything dreamt up, created by you or others not from official genuine sources would thus fall under Martins 'What-If SIG' remit and would therefore be ineligible for the table ).

Well, I've got the Fokker F-28 COD almost finished, plus the Airbus A319 MPA and the Sentinel R.1.

Vulcan AEW, going to the wire.  Radomes done, but a lot of work to do with the B.1 conversion.  It'll only be there on Sunday, assuming it's finished.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

i got a 1/144 andover aew with the jet engines  that could be finished in a few days "just need the paint job tyided up " to cover yours if you want?

Ive got the Warningstar, Herk AEW and the Bristol 192AEW ready. And should have builds 4 and 5 done in time for the show after tonights marathon spray booth session.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

And with Martins final build i think its time to lock down this thread. We had a test run at Glasgow to try out the layout all be it on a smaller foot print, but there are a couple of big builds from Martin, Joe & Mossie and that should pretty much fill the stand without it getting over crowded.

I sort out some crib cards to put with certain groups of models explaining what they cover and do a list of models for the stand so we know whats what if people ask.

OK folk's lets get those last bits finished off and i'll see you at Telford on the Friday/Saturday or Sunday.

Cheers

The Wooksta!

Do you want "Dougal"?  Need an answer as I'd prefer to nick the tail turret to complete another build...
