The `what if` in this case being..., what if 617 had asked me to design this years special anniversary aircraft scheme for them.

A couple without the dio base.

It`s a 1/48 Revell kit, base is from the old 1/72 airfix dambusters dio kit. Sorry for the piccie quality, it`s just a point and shoot.

Now that is pure BRILLIANCE!    :drink:

What an outstandingly clever idea, the WWII scheme bursting out of the present day one. GENIUS!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

fantastic scheme, ever concidered sending it to the RAF, they might want to ask you to repaint the current anniversary tonka
very nice work.

-all kinds of things.

Fantastic!  That's how it should have been done.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Magnificent!   Both the idea and the execution of it are  remarkable!

I finished reading The Dambusters by Paul Brickhill last night ...... a very good read covering the incredible exploits of 617 Squadron to the end of WW2 - astonishing bravery and achievements. It describes how Leonard Cheshire took to using a Mustang for low-level target marking and I wondered how it was painted - if it was? A Bomber Command P-51 (B,C,D?) would be interesting. (I know, probably been done!  )

The message being: Beneath every 617 Sqn aircraft is a Lancaster trying to get out!

Fantastic scheme! Love it!

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

Excellent!

I wonder what kind of weapon a Tornado would use against a dam  ;D

Excellent.
What if 617 had asked you to design this year's special anniversary aircraft scheme for them?  They'd have got a damned sight better anniversary aircraft than the one they actually ended up with.
Amazed the 'Lancaster scheme' wasn't adopted - a no brainer to me.
