A 1/72 Il-86! Yay! Now, when is that 1/72 An-225 coming out?

McColm

Thanks for the update, Sanger do a vacform Be-12  in 1/72. A plastic version at a moderate price is welcomed.
An An-225 would be a monster of a build in 1/72 or even 1/144.

IIRC, RVHP has a resin be-12 also. I could see where a conversion kit for the An-124 would be do-able.

New kit coming from Modelsvit, 1/72 Bartini VVA-14

More here http://scalemodels.ru/news/8000-anons-Modelsvit-1-72-bartini-vva-14.html
There's an article in Model Aircraft February 2015 edition on how to build the 1/72 kit, pages 40-42.
£45 from Hannants.

Well feedback from other forums where members have already got their hands on the Be-12 sound to be quite favourable about the quality of the kit especially a limited run kit, so it sounds like it may be a good kit although numbers may be limited.

Just a pity they can't do their other large kits injection moulded as I think they could have quite a few more sales of the An-124, the Tu-144 and the expected IL-86 if they were more the £50-£100 injection moulded kits than the £250 glass fibre jobbies. I think we might have seen some interesting Whiffs otherwise (although they would of course be rather big !!!)

The size of the moulds for the longer aircraft might be the problem. All of them are much longer than the Be-12 and the BBA-14 and they may need a moulding machine larger than the ones they have.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

That's A Model's problem and the reason they do their A Monster kits using fibre, also why some of their injected kits break the fuselage down into a couple of parts
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I keep being drawn back to their Sukhoi T-4 kit and dribbling....then the horrific build reviews return me to sanity ;D.

If you ever feel the need to indulge, there's one taking up space in the stash.

Revell do/did a 1/72 Be 6 for a much cheaper price and the East German kits vary .

Dizzyfugu

Revell did a re-boxing of the VINTAGE Be-6 from VEB Plasticart (GDR). Huge, and primitive - it even lacks a cockpit, and the swimmers are rather clumsy. But it is a basis to start from if you have tons of spare parts at hand... Would not pay more than EUR 10,- for it, though.
