When you're reading a book, people assume you're not busy and can be interrupted. Repeatedly.

One of my life's big annoyances, that.  I like to read - best thing I ever learnt.   If it's a good book then I get totally in the book's world, so to speak.  Background music is fine; conversation between others is Ok if not too loud; conversation involving me - Bad.

Fortunately, my lovely wife knows this, and will only interrupt me if it's important - like ordering more pizza.
