Apparently not - looks as if the rear struts are attached in the same axis as the wings, and a piston keeps the level. Cool construction (and find).

Kaman was much like an American analogue of Hunting, stayed out of the limelight but was involved in a lot of interesting fields and were often given tricky or unconventional-thinking challenges.  They even had a nuclear ordnance division in Albuquerque.

The only thing I can think of when reading about Albuquerque...

Ah, Albuquerque... I saw Weird Al perform that once.  He's a goofball.  And I made a wrong turn going past Albuquerque years ago, so yes, just like Bugs Bunny, "I shoulda made a left toin at Albuquerque."

Ooo, there are some cool designs associated with that on the wiki - what show/book/?? is it devoted to?

What I've posted is all I know ... Sorry.

Kaman are still very much a going concern, unlike Hunting.

I love the K-Max.

Oooh I like that.  I've been trying to work out how to fit a pilot, engine, turbo and undercarriage into a single P38 boom.  This isn't it but it is excellent.

Wouldn't you just have to make the boom longer?  Maybe a bit wider, too, if you're putting twin engines side-by-side feeding contra-rotating props ... Single main-wheel, fixed tail wheel, and with non-retracting out-riggers at the wing tips ...

I like the idea of what would basically be a cut down Lightning - 1 boom, 1 engine, outer wings, single undercarriage leg.  Being bone idle I was trying to avoid too much work but having studied cutaways I can now see that there is no spare space in the booms that could be used for a pilot.

Something will come to me.  Every so often I get the box down and have a play with the bit seeking inspiration.

Would removing the turbo and replacing it with a mechanical supercharger help?
