Bussard collectors.

I'm oddly proud of myself for remembering that.  All those hours spent watching Mrs z's Star Trek collections didn't go to waste after all.

Ah, yes, I remember the name. Just had the vision of the rotating collectors from the TV Enterprise in mind...  ;)

Which one as there have been three Enterprise's on TV?

TOS: The Original Series with James T. Kirk

Next Gen: Star Trek The Next Generation with Captain Jean-Luc Picard

Enterprise: Enterprise with Jonathan Archer

I am guessing that you mean TOS though going by your description  ;D

We were talking about Series not craft. A fairly late lettered Enterprise appears in the Series "Enterprise" when Archer is taken to the far and distant future to show what may happen to the Federation

Don't remember that one.  I've only watched Enterprise through once.
The Defiant was always my favourite ship and series 7 of DS9 my favourite show (although Voyager had its moments).

IIRC, that's orginally from a German modeler (Thomas Brückel) who built several very creative F-104 conversions. There's also a USMC version of this VTOL concept.

See, and stand in awe: http://acroairwolf.beepworld.de/plastikmodellejets.htm

Some inspirational stuff there.  I particularly like the Thunderbear and the STOL Starfighters with the engines in the tip tanks.

Thanks for the link ! A prolific builder with some nice stuff in there ! Love all the 104s. Thought for sure I'd see at least one Canadian in there. I like his other iteration of the VTOL bird, looks more feasible. I like the 'see through' X-1 as wll !
