Hey that's cool! Love seein the lil kids making kits and especially the girls. Sterotypes and all be damned.

I'm not sure, may be the same dad and kid, but I see another feller posting him and his daughter's stuff on FB, too....   if memory serves, she just finished up the red uhh.....  flight team plane the Brits use?? Sorry, I have a bad memory chip in my processing unit.  It's the cool little red jet, but anyway..  Might be the same, if not, the more the merrier!

The Vulcan looks pretty good as a kids build goes and the new scheme is interesting. I think she did a swell job and if she keeps up is bound to get better and better. That age is like...the best age for soaking that stuff up. The camo would look cool on the full size, I agree. I saw a vid the other day of a Vulcan flying around and I became mesmerized by the big ol thing and the noise it made. I kind of want to build one now. . .

That'd be a Red Arrows Hawk then.  ;D

My eldest daughter, not the one who's in the RAF, built an Airfix Spitfire IX painted in eye catching dark blue undersides with pink and emerald green upper camouflage. But she'd got the wings on upside down and swapped left to right, so that the landing gear was sticking up  either side of the cockpit.........

When I asked her why it was like that she gave me a withering look and replied 'How would the pilot know if the wheels were up or down if they were underneath? He can't see THROUGH the wing, can he?'  ;D

 ;D ;D ;D

Priceless!!  I love it.

And am I weird for thinking that pink and green camo sounds pretty cool?!   :o ;D

Red Arrows Hawk.. yes! And it turned out well, too. She did a good job (not sure how much dad helped).  I have a Hawk 200 fighter in the stash, myself. My lone Matchbox kit... curious to see how that one comes together and just how accurate it is.

Would probably be like "dazzle" camouflage, the intention is not to hide the plane but to break its outline. Actually, "pink and green" is not so far from the German "lozenge" camo in WW1, and maybe the high contrast between red and green (they are opposite colours after all) would actually help to disturb the observed shape.

The crazy paving camo on the Vulcan is excellent.
Well done little girl.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Yup, when you look at some of those 5 colour lozenge schemes I think the intention was to distract the allied pilots rather than "hide" the aircraft. You can just imagine the pilot/observer conversation : "it's pink I tell you" - "no it's not it's a very pale redish hue" - "no it's flipping pink you ....."  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

The Vulcan is not badly built at all!
Quite refreshing to see that at least SOME young kids are interested in  modelling. And girls, that's even better. <_<

There was no doubt about Gaynor's 'pink' as it was DAYGLO PINK, and was a vast contrast to the dark green!

I quizzed her about that too, and she said 'Because I LIKE it!' with a look of total scorn on her face.

The IPMS Birmingham Branch were so impressed by it they voted it Best Junior Model at one of their monthly events, and she still has the trophy somewhere.

Maybe they were afraid of your daughter?  ;) From the way you describe her reactions, she appears to have a forceful character... ;D

Even at age eight she was pretty formidable. She's just gone 50 now and she still is!  :o

She works in a department store in Oxford these days, in the model section of course......  ;D ;)

It certainly does, one awesome aeroplane.

It's just GOT to be Whiffable, hasn't it? I'm surprised some of us Brit Whiffers haven't tried it yet. Perhaps I should add it to my list of 62 unfinished projects...........  :banghead:

There's quite a few pics of it about as it was on display at the '64 Biggin Hill Air Fair. Loads of people thought it was real.  ;D
