The buildings behind reminds me of Cuba...
Owing to the current financial difficulties, the light at the end of the tunnel will be turned off until further notice.

Yes, it is real and it is in Cuba - video. The car was part of an exhibition though, it's not a real submarine-car or any kind of "escape" vehicle.
I have seen it before, some 3-4 years ago or so.

P.S. May 2, 2016: I did find an article about the exhibition (Biennale in Havana) and the "submarine-car" here. Artist's name is Esterio Segura. And here in Spanish.
Some drawings for this project look IMHO more impressive than the end product:

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

It looks very Batmanish in black.

My mind said "Batsubmobile!" the moment I saw it.

Someone should build a fully functioning 1/1 submarine car like that. Just for shits'n'giggles.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

Getting it to submerge would be easy, getting it back to the surface might be more difficult.

;D Yeah! That's probably where the ninety-ninety rule thing came from. Imagine the conversation:

Boss: How's work going on the submersible car?
Engineer: Oh, just swell. We're about... half way there, I s'pose.
Boss: What do you mean "half way there"?
Engineer: Well, we... er.. took it for test drive it in the harbour basin and... and... it submerged beautifully. So....

*awkward silence*
Cheers,
Moritz

That is hilarious!  I can't stop grinning.

"Want to buy a used car? Only problem with it is a slight bit of water in the Carb."
"Sure, I'll take a look - where is it?"
"In the Harbour."

Even had their own slipway in Putney. The one outside the Star and Garter (no idea what it's called now) was always being used by the Hooray's to park the car daddy had bought them and they were always going for a swim at high tide  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Do that in these parts, with our 30 ft tide rise and fall, and the darn thing'll end up in France!
