I'm no expert on spiders so i'm not sure if that one belongs to Tarantula family but it sure looks like it...
It happens a lot to me, pick up some old wood off the ground and there comes one or more creepy crawlers... last bug i've found was a big centipede... tools of the trade, right?

I'd call what DfZ put up a Wolf Spider, as it looks like an Australian Wolf Spiders ('though I haven't seen any quite that big, close but not quite).

The thing you saw on the wall, Brad, seems to be a species of American tarantula.

Treat any unidentified Wolf Spider with caution. Their venom can range from harmless to downright lethal, exacerbated by the fact they are an aggressive group with large fangs too.

Trap-door spiders are the most ancient of living spiders and a few still have segmented abdomens. The next stage of evolution was when they left their lairs and started hunting...this one shows possible signs of its segmented heritage on the abdomen.

Best to keep your distance

Yup, i think you're right, from what i've read, here in the Iberian Peninsula, we have the the Iberian Tarantula, which is a bit different indeed, they've got yellow undersides on their legs. The one in my pic is a Wolf spider, or more precisely, Hogna Radiata, and that wasn't the biggest i've seen around here.
They can grow up to 7/8 cm... the one on the pic was a female, males have smaller abdomens... and judging by her size, she still had some space to grow! :o
According to specialists, it's poison isn't very dangerous, we have a couple of other spiders that can really be deadly, the Mediterranean Black Widow and the Violin Spider, both are much more poisonous than the Wolf spider and Tarantula.
Still, i prefer to stay away from all of them... ;D

Thanks!! Good to know, as Tarantulas are mainly harmless as far as I know. :D

I'm not big on tanks.  Can someone explain what's been done here to Whiff it?

I was thinking exactly the same, but what do I know about tanks?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

From what little I do know about Panthers I'd say it's simply the segmented camouflage.
