This looks to be some mutation of a Venom

It's neither a Whiff nor a Venom, it's an RW conversion of a Vampire T11 as a biz jet, it's the Jetcraft Mystery Jet which was built in the US, but only one of them.

I'm not sure if it ever flew and I can't find a single pic of it airborne. There were similar schemes by other companies as well
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Apparently it was still in existence in 1997, the company owner apparently got sent to jail for contempt of court for some reason and it never flew.

The donor aircraft was an ex-RAAF Vampire.

A lot of armchair experts figure that it was seriously out on the cg so it was a good job it never flew.  I've got to agree with them though, unless there's some serious counter weight at the back somewhere.

Also worth a click for the B-26 based Marksman.

I did a model inspired by the "Mystery Jet" a while ago, based on the Airfix Venom trainer and a Focke Wulf Fw 189 B-0 trainer fuselage:

Yes indeed, and if you do a Google Image search for the Mystery jet your model gives more hits than the real thing!!!!!  ;D ;D

Fred, there is a photo somewhere - maybe even here - of a single-boom, single engined P-38 based Drone with fixed landing gear.

I made one as a PR version and it's a pretty easy project. You could use a 2-seater conversion as the control ship...

Thanks Steve.  That's what I have been imagining.  Just with a retractable single undercarriage and outriggers and a pilot.

I'm having similar memories, of a lightening-derived drone, that pulled me into joining this website over a decade ago. But i recall it being blue or grey?

The F7F/Me262 hybrid is nice, but unfortunately the ingredients' proportions do not match.  :-\
