You beat me to it. I was planning to post this today. But have been busy. Had the local IPMS club over for a party this evening. It's always nice to see the other guys wives and families. And discuss modeling over a glass of whisky.

I'll get a couple more pics up shortly.

Not the first time I've pre-empted someone!  It's just... I admire y'alls work so much I can't help myself!!!  ;D

"Hi all,
Over on the Airfix SIG we were donated a load of 1/24 planes. As a result we have been having a 1/24 alternative scheme group build. Well, I decided to have a bit of fun with my Spitfire and have finished it in an X-Wing inspired scheme. It's not the greatest build in the world. The decals are a bit thick and one of them 'leaked'. I sourced a 1/24 X-Wing pilot from Canada, via eBay. The pilot is a tad small for the plane, but looks good enough. The decals were from Bad Mother Tattoo & Customs. A more competent modeller could do a better job, but I had fun making this and I'm looking forward to others reactions at the shows I'll be taking this to.

Thanks for looking,

Mark."

I like the nose-art on the 'Spit-X'...

Strange, that one !

The Mustang looks ok. I thought it would look better in that colour. I think it's the way it's painted just doesn't seem right.

That has to be it...  there's something I can't quite put my finger on about that paint job. I actually love it, and it looks great to me... but... it doesn't look quite "right."   It looks more "organic" some how, like something a fish would look like. It's an interesting interpretation of the Navy tricolor scheme.

Maybe it's the lighting of the photos, but there should be more contrast between the two blues.

The tail number makes no sense for a Bu. No., or a USAAF/USAF serial.
44-84463, which would be shown as 484463, was a P-51D-25-NT.
The number as shown would be a USAAF 1946 serial, and they didn't go as high as
84463.

The highest USN Bu. Nos., in a sequence started in 1940, are in the 169XXX range and are still being assigned.

Model by unknown, posted by Benjamin Donnelly on the "AIRLINERS FROM THE PAST" group.

"Air Gabon was founded in 1951 as Compagnie Aerienne Gabonaise, and though it spent some time as part of Air Afrique, it became Gabon's flag carrier after Gabon's independence in 1960. Unfortunately, one of the oldest African airlines came to an end in 2006.

Air Gabon never flew 707s, though they did fly a DC-8 for awhile...so I'm guessing my stepdad said "Close enough." What happens when you don't have a decal for Air Gabon's old tail emblem and the internet won't be invented for another 20 years? You grab something that looks broadly similiar, in this case the "Pukin' Dog" from US Navy fighter squadron VF-143.

So no, not the most accurate...but it looks nice."

Yeah! Full colour wings on airliners look the BUSINESS!
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Hell yeah!!  I'm with you there.        This scheme reminds me of the yellow Northeast one. Same "pattern."  That's a scheme that, at first... I didn't much care for until I saw that the wing uppers were painted yellow.
