What was its purpose?

It was a prototype for a naval three seat (torpedo) bomber, fully carrier-capable. The original piston engine design (the NC 1070) had a weapon station in the rear of its mid fuselage, this was dropped on the later jet-powered variant, the NC 1071. The front wheel was offset, too, in order to maximise the interal space for the weapon bay.

While cool, the lander would never have fitted through our gate.  So no lollies for that child...

Most visiting children this year at our house were zombies.  To me a lot of them looked like they had been badly beaten.  Which was prolly not their intention.  This got me thinking about children which were really beaten by their parents and, well, that was not a place I wanted to be.
However, they all seemed to be having fun and seemed to appreciate being told they looked horrible.

Afraid I'm not into Halloween, was never a British (or at least working class Brit) thing when I was a kid. We were into blowing things up and burning things down 5 days latter on Guy Fawkes 

However when I went out last night there were loads of youngsters out and about, mostly witches and wizards and some of them very good.

Same & it was pretty much the same here in Aus when I was a youngster. Scary part was that when I mentioned it to a young lady in her early-to-mid-30's at work yesterday, who was going out to a Halloween function after work & asked what I was doing, she had no idea what I was talking about. I told her to Google it.

The death knell for Guy Fawkes was when the Fire Danger period crept outward to encompass it, & the lighting of bonfires & exploding of fireworks became verboten (the latter also to minimise the number idiots, mostly young ones, who injured themselves every year).

Guy Fawkes was what we did too as a kid, I can't remember anything back then that was remotely Halloween ----

Here's an idea: send them all out on Hallowe'en, dressed as themselves. Whoever gets the most candy forms the government. Let the people speak!

As a head teacher I once worked for said  (about a pleasant but very dim pupil)  If his brains were gunpowder, the explosion wouldn't blow his cap off!!

It would apply to many politicians today.
