I like the Il-86 a lot.

You and me both.

Even as an airliner the Il-86 is quite a good looking shape, especially so for a Soviet era aircraft. It's not so 'clinically' shaped as a 767 for instance, and those NK-86 engines are almost elegant (even though they didn't have much grunt....) compared to the big Western turbofans.

And that IDF F-22 is almost a 'Not Happened Yet' model.  ;D

Lufthansa converted a Dornier Do-335 to a high-speed, four-passenger executive transport? This paper model from E-Cardmodels.com is 1/33 scale, with a wingspan of 17 inches, and a length of 16.5 inches. I scratch built the interior of the passenger cabin.

Agreed, but then some of the paper/card models you can get on the Continent are incredible.

This Do-335 re-paint is $6.95:

Re-scaling is easily accomplished by simply changing the print size. Printed at 68.75% a 1/33rd model
is 1/48th.

I never thought of that, but once you see it written down in front of you it's "flippin" obvious  :banghead: ;) ;D ;D

A friend is currently having a thing where he's painting a 1/32 'personality' figure and posing them beside the chopped-off tail of a kit of their aircraft.

Printing out and assembling the tail part of a paper kit - even if you went and built it in plastic - would be a lot cheaper and less wasteful of a full kit.

I have a 48 Monogram Do335 in the stash - could be worth a conversion. The passenger space replaced the main fuel tank - I think. So we might extend the fuselage to regain the fuel tank. mmmmmmmmmm Add to the "to-do" list.

Old Wombat

@dumaniac: Wing-tip tanks & a wet wing (no guns) should give you more overall tankage without having to re-balance the aircraft.

mmmmmm old wombat - now that you mention it, there is a bomb bay between the wings - one could not a big fuel tank in there - thanks for the tip

Old Wombat

Bomb bay for cargo/luggage. Wing & tip tanks for fuel. ;)
