Grant's Art

It has been a while since creating some art for fun, so decided to do a digital doodle. A Lightning 1.5 - the cheaper upgrade!

Where am I going?  And why am I in a handbasket?

In an effort to extend range and payload, Boeing experimented with an "inflatable fuselage" for the B-29 - the ZRB-29. The effort was abandoned after results proved disappointing... 

One of the problems encountered was that with all the helium in the air, Air Traffic Control couldn't stop laughing because it sounded like Mickey Mouse was flying the plane.  Another was that whilst really effective at Loitering, it was too slow to  escape any return fire.

As weird as it looks, this is/was a real Ilyushin bomber design (Il-52, IIRC).

I thought it looked like a US design.  Is similar to the Convair NX-2 except for engine layout.
