The 2013 Whiffie Awards Winners Show

`Ladies and gentleman...., your host for this year's Whiffie Awards....., Mr tc2324........`

(Three people at the front clap, the rest look on bemused)

`Ladies and gentleman, your holiness the pope, Mr president and representatives from Democratic People's Republic of Korea research and development centre of Pyongyang. It gives me great pleasure in introducing this year's 2013 Whiffie Awards. The road has been long, the task enormous, however the standard of whiffing has been maintained at the highest levels.

Before we move on to the categories and winners, we have a recorded message from Phil, the long standing regular host, who sadly could not be here with us tonight, but he did leave this pre-recorded message for you all.

(The auditorium goes dark, a screen drops).

Much fanfare and Soviet National Anthem starts playing... a shot rings out... record scratching noise and silence fills the auditorium (it's just your living room, shh). Spotlight shines on a handsome, young gentleman (hey, get off the stage) who is obviously in the wrong place, and now shifts to me.

`Welcome once again Ladies (really, you never know) and gentlemen (pushing it aren't you, shh) to the 5th (geez, really) sorta annual Whiffies.

Today (or tonight) I am sorry to say (snicker) that I am stepping down as your mini-master of ceremonies (hey, why is everybody cheering? Think about it). As you may have noticed I have been less than punctual these last couple years (there is an understatement) at getting these out on time. So I figured it was time to find a new sucker, er, successor (nice save) to take on the tradition (can you call it tradition after only 5 years, shh) and tc2324 (tc2324, what kind of name is that? It is his Username. Why doesn't he use his own name? That's how people post on the forums. But you used your real name. Well, kind of, is my first name and last initial which is pretty close to my full first name but that doesn't matter. I bet you don't even know his real name. I do too, it is Tony. Is that his real name or just what he told you? It is his real name...I think. Oh, nevermind) also known as Tony (I think).

Tony has been part of the Academy for the last 2 Whiffies and has helped nominate a lot of what you saw in the Nomination polls. He was also instrumental (ha, ha, mental, shh) in setting up this years voting threads and has been working diligently with our accountants, Dowee, Cheatem, & Howe, to make sure the envelopes stay sealed, even if we have to resort to scotch tape.

I will continue to be part of the Academy but will use my time to help nominate more things I like (so there, ney) and hopefully finish up something that might actually be Whiffie worthy (fat chance, hey).

So, (sniff) without further ado (a due what, will you knock it off), I turn you over to your new host, Tony. (scurrying, running sounds... What time does the plane leave for the Bahamas? Soon, you better leg it... tire screeching sounds and then... silence).`

The lights come back on to find your new host looking like a rabbit caught in headlights.......

`I for one would like to thank Phil for the kind abuse...., er..., I mean help, he provided me for 2 minutes last Friday..., to prepare for this great challenge. No doubt, however much he tries to hide, the Academy will hunt him down...., er.., I mean..., contact him..., for further advice and help in a consultancy kind of way.
Phil has been `Mr Whiffie Awards` for the last 4 years and the work he has put into it and has been tremendous. I think I speak for us all when I say thank you mate for the time and energy you put in to it and making it the bit of fun, with a hint of year end recognition, it was meant to be for the forum members.

We will now break for a short interlude to give you all an opportunity to refill your popcorn, beer or something stronger.
