a non modelling one here

Nichelle Nichols  passed on Saturday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-62373143
a fine actress, who will be sorely missed.
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

Will be missed, indeed.

She went up on SOFIA a couple of times and there was/is even a Mission Patch available from that trip.

zenrat

It's a shame to see her gone.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

PR19_Kit

She even had a Moulton bike............

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

and another proof that we are truly into a cyberpunk future

the nice man from Forgotten weapons doing a demo of a working man portable coil gun ( Gauss weapon)  and if you look at the body work of it its got massive amounts of 3D printing.  so the basic concept is proven and the genie is out of the bottle.

wile idley looking over the " pile of potential "  ( from my youngest brother, as oposed to the pile of shame, that unbuilt wargames models can be) i noticed a box i had forgotton.
im now starting on a HLBS commando scout armoured car, i think itll be built so both options are doable ( twin MG turret and the box top), and im thinking ill have to gypsy it up a bit and have it as more of a Twilight 2000 / Morrow project vehicle, than as a more "normal" version.  Though i may need to get another to do a grav car version, its a very wedge shape, that leads to that.

Looking for something else yesterday I found some old Plastic Soldier kits I bought a few years ago. Mainly early WWII British stuff, and I'm quite tempted to give them a bash simply as a change. It's either that or build a jet (shudder  ). So you never know I may drift back to my wargame routes  ;D

having a go at a few for a change is a good thing,  it allows the brain to work on other stuff, and not get one tracked.

Yup, and they are fairly quick assembly as well, especially around the tracks and road wheels etc

glueing on ramage at the moment1:48 scale tarps, 1:35 ammo tubes to act as map holders simaler to the ones seen on some M60s, warhammer40K pouches and boxes, a warhammer fantasy bow and arrows, and some bits of wood, and then im going to have to work out how to paint it all,    im may end up with photos being taken, and then things being flicked off with the tip of the modeling knife,  painted then stuck back on .

Bee interested in seeing how that works.

apparently a lot of the " cool uber modelers" part assemble, then paint, finish assembly then  add the teny tiny details and weathering.  and then never handle the thing again  :banghead:
as im building a wargames model, and its for a wargames project, a PC Twilight 2000 group, that isnt doble as there weill be a lot of moving in the future, so anything has to be well attached and not going to rub off when moved, or be easily damaged for when in transit.

plus without sticking it on i cant always " visulise " what it will look like.

Most of my wargames figures were attached to bases, but then they were in units/battalions etc and so that was more easily achieved.

rewith 28mm its normaly a single figure per base,  or a single "team" for a heavy weapon,  and seperate vehicles,  normaly unbased, unless it needs to be based for a reason,  like the 1:56 Cheiftain tanks i have that are white metal cast, ( nearly a Kilo each) so have to be based to give something to hold onto other wise people pick them up by the side skirts, and they bend or snap off,
Ive always liked the look of ranked battalion games, but have never had the patience to paint for one of them.
