im more serious news      Im now at the point on the tank that it the reason for assembly,  the Dozer blade assembly.  its a case of slow and steady, trim, fill file fit and repeat, as i dont want to spanner this bit up.

9 years of work and a thing of beauty     i have to admire the dedication on building the thing, and then adding the air wing,  and the family dynamic that allowed the room to build it,  thats not exactly a crunchie bar size ( 4.6M  15.2 Feet  is longer than the living room of my house    )

It's a lot of grey aircraft.  Where's the out of time flight of Mitchells?

Pretty darn awesome, that. 

There was a similar scale USS Enterprise model in the Smithsonian Annexe when I went there in the late 80s, and that a complete air wing too. It certainly make the point just how MASSIVE those flight decks are.

IIRC the Smithsonian one (or maybe one at the EAA museum) was featured in FSM back in the day... they had to have a fold-out page to get the picture in, to show it in enough detail to make it worth printing...

And there was a shot of the builder, having placed the hull across the backs of two chairs, standing on it! to show how strong it is.

Or maybe there were 2 - ISTR both a WW2 version and a CVN...   

I think the Air Wing was built by the various members of the local IPMS chapter.

That rings bells, yes. I can't remember which WWII carrier they modelled but it was also in 1/72. The Enterprise DWARFED it!

From viewing the huge model I crossed over a bridge thing to the next exhibit, which started off as a large hole in the wall, but on the other side I was ON a carrier deck! I can't remember all the aircraft there sadly, but one was an A-4 positioned in front of the deck-edge lift aperture and they back projected a vid of an escort destroyer sailing alongside! 

I had to check I couldn't FEEL the floor move, it was that realistic.

UK members who've been to the FAA Museum at Yeovilton will know what I mean as they have a similar display of a section of the Ark Royal there.

im still gluing dozer blade sub assembly's ,  but am moving forward doing so.  wile this may not be the most inspiring kit, i am still wanting to finish it, far more so that the struggle with the Dragon Conqueror    and the lure of the next build is strong, and i can hear the siren song of them

the dozer assembly is still in progress, i have to admit the assembly is a thing of beauty, it takes simply shaped parts that arnt too small and fits them together well, I have had to "mod" the cylinder, of the ram as the to parts that it slots into to hols it in place didnt flex enough and one of the pivot snapped off,   drill and pin with copper wire time,.  and the link that stops the top of the blade is supposed to snap into another clip that i did similar too, so drill and pin again,  my fault more than anything else and easily fixable.
