Somewhere (can't remember where) I've seen something that says it was held back until a definitive decision had been made re SMW 2020 and thus should be on its way anytime soon.

The Wooksta!

My membership has lapsed, so no magazine and with no SMW this year and therefore no free entry, I'm not renewing it. That 20od notes can stay in the bank and earn a pittance in interest.

Said free entry was the only reason I bothered with IPMS membership.  I doubt my attitude isn't confined to me, so how much cash will they lose in the interim?

You could well be right there Lee.

As for the pittance in interest ? The way things are going if the BoE reduce the Bank Rate any farther we'll be getting negative interest on our savings accounts, and I'm not joking. It will be the ultimate and final attempt to get us spending again post Covid in order to try and revive the economy. 2021 is going to be an "interesting" year

On both sides of the pond.  And that's all I'll say, as any more would probably violate the No Politics rule.

haha!   ive done my comparing and the new Empress miniatures 28mm BAOR infantry, and my older Mongrel miniatures, and Gripping Beast MOFO figs match well enough, there's a couple or 3 mm in head height, but the SLRs are very close, and I know from mixing and matching other lines its not the figure heights that get called, ( people are all sorts of heights) its the hardware that looks wrong and stands out like a sore thumb, so I will ( hopefully) soon be sorting out an order for more metal .   And when I was taking to the nice people at Empress they mentioned that they would be bringing out more in the range as well, MILAN, Carl gustaves, snipers, command troops etc, and that most important thing in 28mm wargaming Armour !   apparently a 1:50 scale Chieftain   ;D.
this may get a bit costly ...  and possibly re mojo me!

Agree totally it's the ancillary items that can make figure ranges look wrong when combined. That and horses for some reason ? Although that won't affect you, some designers whilst being near enough with the riders would have totally different ideas as to what 15mm/25mm  scale horses should look like ?

Mrs SPs opinion on most of the horses she's seen isn't very printable, a lot of them are little more than pony's, and then far to short, nose to tail.  We sort of get why, its a lot of metal per horse, but seeing how certain gamers go absolutely bonkers if one piece of webbing is incorrect or if a piece of headwear was a different shape for 1 company for 2 months for a certain campaign, and say nothing regarding this its a bit of a irk for both of us.   and the colours some of them are painted, oh dear  :banghead:  but im fairly certain ive said this before, and at lengths  <_<

I recall a stand up shouting match with some horse owning guy over a Historex mounted soldier that my model shop owning mate Derek had built. The guy claimed that it would be impossible to ride a horse that was 'rigged' the way that Derek had done it, but all I could say was he built it the way it said in the kit.

I'm glad I only built aircraft and cars.  ;D

In 25mm/28mm scale my favourites were Essex, Battle Honours did nice 15mm/18mm ones. A lot of mine were ancients so either had caparisons or bards of some kind which helped the figure designers I suppose. As for painting them ? Oils helped get that sheen that a horse will have, but they could be right awkward so and so's to paint. I found that my niece and her horse riding pals could get a far more realistic look then me, and it didn't cost me that much either
