It's like everything, Kit, they all do it because some marketing genius once said that there's a mental switch in the average persons' head that triggers if a price hits a certain value ($1, $2, $10, $100, etc.) it becomes "too expensive" but, if you reduce the price by even one cent/penny/whatever (99c, $1.99, $9.99, $99.99, etc.) it doesn't trigger that switch.

Personally, I think it's a load of bull-manure but retailers live by that rule.

Especially here in the States where each state has their own separate sales tax (not included in the sticker price).

I go out of my way to shop at places that DON'T do that.

It's too cynical for words. :(
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

welp my ability to find stuff id like but cant afford hits once again
I have seen that Tamiya are offering a 1:16 Centurion RC tank kit  ( my prior comments on myself and anything RC still apply, but I had a look just out of curiosity youknow) wonderland models has it ( yay!) £1089.99  ( ouch! ) so that's ( fortunately)  out of my range / league / desire now.  though that's not a bad thing, I have no idea where id store it either.

I didn't realise they were doing RC tanks. I have some vague memories of them doing some big scale motorised stuff back in the 60/70's as I used to look at them in Beatties in Holborn while I was at lunch and I think you could get separate RC equipment, but it would have been crude compared to today I suppose.

they do a few in that scale, some with the option to fit out with IR systems so they can be used as "battle" tanks

Id need a lot more space to be able to store them, and wile nice they are a long way down my "must have" list,  one of those being the 1:350 Tamiya ships, the British ones and the Enterprise and the 80s versions of the US battleships being there,  and I know that the prices on those arnt cheap either  ;D

ive some more grey on the tanks,   :banghead: why oh why did i decide that it was a good scheme for a whole army?  :banghead:  trying to mach the placements and size is bad enough, but the Tau stuff is a bunch of compound curves
Im slowly getting there, i actualy think that BR may be getting there more parodly though

managed to get some more paint on the tanks, and a wargames figure for Mrs sp together,  and done some painting and gluing, and filling....  the tar paper had blown part off of the shed roof, so that got done today as well,  paint on bitumen  glue / paint to roof and tar paper, put together, over paint then add sand to the areas.   them wash down well, how i managed to get some on my knee is beyond me, i was carefull.  honest  :banghead:

Immutable law of the universe mate.  It is impossible to use bitumen glue without getting some on your self or clothes.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
