The original Tiger Force would have had PR & Met assets and they would have used Mosquito's. I also have a feeling that Hawker Tempest II's were sleighted as escorts. It would have been much, much larger then the one that almost went out East.

Cut back because of a lack of bases and possibly other reasons.

Here's the Google page which isn't much use actually. Just wish I could find that article  :banghead:

Yes, Tiger Force was going to be much larger than where it was when it got cancelled due to the end of the war. Tempest II's were definitely in the mix (Beaumont was working up on them).

An article I've read in an Air-Britain publication, has Tiger Force at the time a joint planned operation between the RAF & RCAF with other Commonwealth countries already in the Pacific theater joining later once the force was in the area.  Canadian Squadrons were already in the process of transitioning back across the Atlantic to Canada even before the end of the European stage of the war had wrapped up, where they were 'working -up' for the Pacific operation, mostly these were bomber squadrons but fighter sqns were earmarked to do the same.  The article doesn't come right out and say it, but it seems that the bulk of Tiger Force would have entered the Pacific Theater from the Canadian West Coast, at least that's the impression I'm getting.  Canadian bomber sqns were to transition to Canadian built Lincolns and as the war ended fairly quickly after the two A-Bomb attacks, only one 'completed' one had come off the Malton production line when the war ended.

Yup the RCAF was to have been a major part of Tiger Force.

I think the other Commonwealth Forces in the area RAAF and RNZAF were to have contributed mainly fighter and support elements. I assume any Australian manned RAF bomber units would have stayed part of the RAF contribution rather then becoming separate wings as the RCAF units would have.
