Question to the floor. Does anyone make a 1:72 fairey delta 3?

i moulded one up based upon masters made by Geoff Baker (thorvic) as yet i have not got around to putting it into production due to time constraints etc.  i also made another mould of the FD.3 as a display model, ie. accurate shape but devoid of detail which other than passing out a few examples of the model to colleagues as yet i have not made widely avaliable.

I guess at some point soon i should get my butt in gear and get casting

Going off memory the inflight one on a stand should be one Martin did form one of Joes display models, if the other in a NMF one with Blue fin and on wheels, then thats the first Scratch build i did some years ago 2003/2004 (i think).

And Yes Joe it is time you put it into production 

I think Colin has been tempted to commision a kit for Freightdog, but has been put off due to its size, as in resin it would be larger and thus more expensive to make than say the EAP; which then deters customers as whilst many modellers would express an interest, few would actually follow up with actual purchases after being scared off by the price

I've considered bodging a crude one from mirage 4 but if one were become available I'd have your arm off

It is doable especially with one of Hellers warped ones as that was the basis for my 2nd scratch build which should be on the site somewhere.
I had one of the Mirage IV kits where the fuselage bowed out so if the two haves were put together the nose would meet at the cockpit but the aft splayed out by about 2 cm !!!. So i put wedge of plastic card in top and bottom to create the main FD3 fuselage, redid the fwd fuselage to take a side by side seating set up, robbed a Phantom nose cone and did the rest in plastic card

My idea is to make two if possible an RAF one maybe tiger squadron colours and a USAF lisence built version

the moulds are relsativly handy, the display model came as a 2 piece casting, the detailed one is over quite a few moulds covering droopable nose, seperate control surfaces etc. il see what i can do

If it comes to it, figure the costs involved for a 50 unit run and then solicit pre-orders / backers.  Once you hit your magic number then put the bird into production.

The FD 3 was a huge beast so it's per kit cost will take some keen figuring.  It'd also be heavy in resin - have you thought of using wire cores for the landing gear?
