Airfix (NT) 1/72 Spitfire 1a

Ident codes are fictitious but within the realms of probability. BG was used later in the war by and observation squadron.

Excellent work there.

I still can't understand how this thread isn't buried in replies from Radish......
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Kit

Thanks

I also updated with pics of two other recent completions as well as the spit but they were immediately demoted to the previous page.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Just finished two builds.

1. Vickers Amphibian "Condor" from Biggles and the Cruise of the Condor.
This is my all-time favourite of the stories (possibly favourite story ever).

The model will be part of a diorama from this illustration, hence Algy almost falling out of the cockpit...

The moel is a heavily kitbashed Karaya resins Supermarine Seamew. Lovely kit.

2. Miles Falcon owned and flown by Stella Carstairs in Biggles & Co.
It's the Dekno resin Miles Falcon VI. Not as nice a kit as the Seamew  :-\

lovely!

espcially the amphibian, because I have a crush on seaplanes; I am curious about the Karaya kits, they have a nice selection of flying boats, and they seem tempting ...

Cruise of the Condor is probably the Biggles Book i've read most as it's also one of my favourites.
Good work on both of them.

Thanks awfully, chaps.

This is a "Tarpon" flying boat/amphibian from Biggles Second Case. It's used in bringing some rogue Nazi holdout submariners to justice just after WW2.
It's a kitbash of the Special Hobby Sikorsky S-43/JRS-1 to turn it from a single to a twin fin machine.

Not a nice kit. Can't recommend it.

Love it. Has a certain Short's Bros look about it. A progression from the Stranraer type of aircraft

Very good.  The book doesn't ring a bell.  I must go and check my collection.

It's actually an American bird. Pan Am used them for their Pacific services in the 30s. A contemporary of the Stranny, really (the Brits were still hanging onto biplanes while the yanks had got with the times)
The irony is that the story says the Tarpon is "still on the top secret list" at the end of the WW2, yet the illustration is based on the S-43 which would have been appallingly out of date by that stage! Anachronisms aside, though, having such a clear visual image to draw on for the build was too good an opportunity to pass up, so I went with the illustrator's interpretation.
