Well here's one I'd never heard of, the 4,500 lb rocket-assisted "Disney Bomb" developed by the Royal Navy in WWII and deployed by USAAF B-17s to destroy U-boat pens:

My friend, what that photo of the weapon needs is a Photoshopped in Mickey Mouse, sitting astride the bomb, waving a General's hat in the air... :lol:

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Does the GBU-28 have a booster rocket in the tail? It's not mentioned in the Wiki page for the weapon.

It should not, even though I remember that a rocket booster had been developed, but the result was an "AGM", not a "GBU", IIRC.

I read the Wikipedia story last night. It seems the bomb was not very effective on the U boat and E boat pens. It would punch a hole in the roof but not much else. It just wasn't big enough. It appears the idea of using it on concrete runways never occurred to anyone, which would have been useful against the early jets.

By the way, in case anyone was wondering, I was watching this film recently (which I would highly recommend, incidentally) and I imagine that this is where the bomb got its name.

Disney's "Victory Through Air Power" 1943.  Start at 1:00:56.
