Steel Penguin

#17
Just back, Hi to anyone sapphire penguin and myself missed    the SIG table was wondrous to behold, with a few new deployment that id not seen before ( Kits, late friends F-19 in its super shiny stealth finish was wonderful) and ive a couple of ideas from walking round, Sapphire penguin got herself a Zepplin kit  that shes muttering on converting to something more steampunk and Victoriana, and I picked up a few boxes for myself.
And I was chatting a bought crew members for a 1:35 scale modern British tank with some one on the stand, PM me if you want them as ive found them looking through my box of crew figures now im home

now back at my hotel chilling out ready for the trip home tomorrow  ;D

My photos of the stand and others models I found of interest can be found here

A great turn out from the sig and forum. With Darthspud making his first (all bit it fleeting) appearance  ;D
And Andrew J making a raid across the border from Wales to show us how kit bashing should really be done.

The new venue is a vast improvement over the old Yate location. Apart from a lack of mobile phone signal for some networks.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

I had a good time too,
Nice venue, nicer people, especially What If Sig stand, and those nice people from Oxonian plasticfantastic.

Will need more funds next time, and a better look.

Someone has the world stock of HASEGAWA aircraft missiles and rockets and I can't find them, but I will.

Cracking show today, even though it got hotter and hotter as the day wore on. To my mind we had one the best displays ever, OGL's call for 4 tables allowed us to 'display in depth' and gave a much better look than almost all the other stands who had their models in two rows spread along their tables,

Here's a bunch of piccies, the first having caught OGL and Richard off-guard as I took it from the viewing balcony while Mike McEvoy and I were having lunch.  ;D The last one was the only other Whiff I could find in the entire show, quite a change from previous events were Whiffing seemed to be becoming almost mainstream.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Glad you had a good day lads and thanks for the pictures Kit, there's some stuff there I've not seen.

Hopefully get back to my usual show circuit next year and make this one
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Its a case of getting the right balance between display space, and participation, sometimes its works a treat with the right number of people with a variety of models that complement yet highlight the breadth and scope of the SIG.

Looked a nice display, great to see others from the forum coming along and joining in

yes andrew made a glorious job of the supermarine 576. i did hear someone say he ought to enter it in the
competition class for what if's? at SMW in november.

it was a lovely day at thornbury even if the place seemed a bit hard to find.

there were some excellent models on our stand and in the show generally. having lots of wargamers mixed in was
an idea that worked out well.
