Mr.Creak

Just got the Hannant's newsletter.
PM models are going to become rarer.
QuotePM Model.. No more kits ever. Earlier this year the owner of PM Model died. Rather than sell the business his family have had the moulds scrapped. No moulds means no more kits can be produced. We have bought all remaining stock from the UK importer. Get them while you can.

Not exactly brilliant kits, but definitely cheap enough to chop up for whifs.
Pity.

Oh, and commiserations to his family.
What if... I had a brain?

thats to bad, i liked they're luft'46 line.
although PM model's kits out there arent exactly high standard like Revell or the newer airfix kits, with a little work they can be little gems.

Condolences to his friends and family.

Why on Earth did they scrap the molds?  Even if they didn't want to carry on the business, they must have known they had value...... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I had a look at Hannants: they havn't got any of the Luft '46 stuff and what they have got mostly doesn't excite me (various F-5s and Sea Furies, for instance). However, I did stock up on cheap Su-15s: a rare source of double-delta wings.

Condolensces to Mr PM Models' family!

I see 2 possible reasons for destroying the molds;

1.) It was his wish that they be destroyed, or;

2.) His family despised the time he "wasted" on this/his hobby/business so much they destroyed them as a final "F*** You!" to the modelling world.

Always a sad day when a brand goes - condolences to the family.

So I wonder what Airfix will do now for their Sea Fury kit

I always hope for the best.

Fingers crossed for a nice new tool...!

What a bizarre move, scrapping the moulds. Some of PM's kits are pretty much the only option available for certain types (Beech 18 family etc) and they're certainly attractively priced (or rather were - no doubt they will become collectors' items in the near future!), even if some of them are decidedly ropey.
Some of my models can be found on my Flickr album >>>HERE<<<

The latest Hannants email states that with the death of PM Models owner all the moulds have been destroyed by the family. Hannants now have all the PM stock from the UK importer.

I never thought much of any of the PM kits but some were unique or of unusual subjects. I built the Ta-183 which is good (same moulds for PM and Revell) and some of the other Luft46 stuff is apparently OK.
The best review I've heard is that the floats for the Spitfire floatplane were the best!  ;D
Were any of the kits that great?

As I've said elsewhere could be a miss translation ?

Mods - wouldn't it be an idea to merge this thread with the other one?
