the only time I have used it, I let them know and the parts arrived a bit o time later.

Took them about a week to send me parts for the Rotodyne I started some years ago. Not bad considering it'd not been produced for some years by that time.

I've had to use the service a couple of times.  I have used both e-mail and telephone for different reasons.  E-mail was used to get some parts to replace some very badly moulded one for a Blenheim the parts arrived in about a week.  The telephone requests were for some parts for an Islander that my father had started and never finished.  It was OOP and I phoned on the off chance.  The chap took all the details.  He phoned back saying he could not find anything at all but asked me to e-mail him a scan of the box and instructions.  A few days later the parts arrived.  The model code had been reused and he had searched until he found the bits.  Brilliant service.

Righto.....pretty encouraging.....away on a course now so I'll contact them when back home....cheers all...

I've used it a few times and it's been a case of sit and wait, they sent no correspondence but the item would arrive some time later.

The last time I used it (about a year ago) the system had changed.  Someone contacted me (possibly a contractor) straight away.  Because it was for a project and not a replacement part, they asked me to cover the postage and a nominal fee for the parts.  I recieved a Blue Steel the next day and in the end they just charged me the postage.  Not free as in the past (I had got some Canberra wings in the past at no charge) but the charge was more than reasonable and the service excellent.  The suggestion was, had it been a request for replacement parts then the service would be free.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

if you've a 1:48 sea harrier it may be worth checking to see if its on there, ( I built mine several years ago so its a little fuzzy, what worse is that I cant remember what I did with any spares, and they didn't show up in a recent search trough my pile o stuff, so I cant check for you )

I tried this the other evening.  Got an acknowledgement straight away (good service).  Got a reply two days later.  They no longer had the required part (windscreen for a AC-130h, I'd picked up second-hand with the warning that it was missing).  Looks like I'll have to scratchbuild one.  While disappointed, I was surprised to receive such a fast reply.  I was also surprised that they had none in stock.  I was under the impression that Airfix had a massive supply of spare parts for all their kits.   :banghead:

I've seen the Revell spare parts dept. It's big, but they can't keep more than a couple of spares once a kit goes out of production. With so many different kits to store, there just isn't space to keep large quantities of each.

That and the AC-130 has been OOP for some time and the remaining stock was cleared out with the Humbrol stock reduction at Hull nearly 10 yrs ago.

In my stash I have a C-130 vacuform conversion set which allows you to make six or seven different C-130's.  I'm sure there's a vac canopy in the set but as usual, I can't find it when I want to check.  I think it's an AirModel conversion but it could also be a DB productions one too.  Flightpath do a number of these conversion in resin now so you may be able to get a canopy through either of these companies.

I have that one too Robert, and it is an Airmodel production. You can make various C-130s from it, including the UK Airborne Weather Station and the USAF Fulton recovery System aircraft. I'm notr sure if it has a canopy in there or not as Airmodel tended to sellotape their canopies inside a fuselage side or similar.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model
