How many Wellesleys are under way?

Secretly, it seems, a small group build is taking place? How many Wellesleys are currently on the bench? AFAIK a classic Mk. I in Coastal Command livery, a turboprop(!) conversion and my own GR Mk. IV, also a Coastal Command aircraft with some serious mods like a Hercules engine, radar and a gun turret. Anyone else?

The Wooksta!

It's an aircraft I've wanted to do in service at Habaniya during the emergency with the revolting Iraqis, but the one I started stalled and kitbasher got the bits.  Haven't seen another at a price reasonable enough to get (ie a fiver or less).

I have a 'virgin' Wellesley in the stash, plus a partially built one bought at Hendon this year for a quid after I got the one from Lee.  This will be used for whiffery at some point after SMW - the cunning plan and associated bits and bobs have been accumulated!

That leaves the one I acquired from The Wooksta and I'm happy to repatriate during SMW.  To be honest it is a little surplus to requirement since the Hendon purchase and whilst I'm sure I can put it to good use, that may not happen for a while and so if it can go to a good home......

BTW Lee any luck photocopying those plans we discussed earlier in the year?

I have the kits and the plan, but when I'll get around to it......

Every Whiffer needs at least one Wellesley in their hangar.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

So that means the new Valom Wellesley's will appear about a month after you lot finish your Matchbox kits if Sod's law has anything to do with it !

Na, those will be benchmarks for a whiffy re-boxing. Seems to become popular these days?

Funny you should say that, I've got one underway at the moment too.
It was to have been a PRU one in the desert, but some bodies beat
Me to that twice :banghead: and with longer wings!! ;D
So at the moment it's heading for the RAuxAF in silver, highly polished cowl
Bright Sqn markings, and some kind of turret

The British have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved". Soon though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross". Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the Blitz in 1940 when tea supplies ran out for three weeks

To be fair, mine (the turboprop monster) isn't actually underway - it's merely "on the list".

Oh that sounds nice  I toyed with a similar idea, but not RAuxAF, before I settled on "Coastal Command", which is actually a land based FAA one.

Yup but I want one for a real world build
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Quite interesting this thread popping up. Whilst having just returned from muddling up French and Spanish in Catalonia for a fortnight, I was sitting by the pool considering (yes! I'm sad ;D even when on hols) a Super-Wellesley of sorts.

Amazing to think it still holds a record for furthest flight by a single-engined craft...two days airborne :o .

Thanks for the Valom heads-up as this machine is another favourite...I hoped Trumpeter might follow up the Wellington with one.

I don't think there is actually one in the works, but more of a wish/prediction from Thorvic, given that Valom have covered a couple of other obscure British types (Brigand, Buckingham etc).

Ah, hadn't seen that. Though the top of the page does say "Upcoming in 1:144"? Bit confusing, though I imagine a Wellesley would sell very poorly in 1:144, and the Fury looks to have a 1:72 kit number...

A new kit is very welcome, though Valom tend to be quite expensive. Maybe Revell can be persuaded to re-issue the Matcbox one too...
