Thanks Paul,
I think Canada uses them.

There are some listed on the Air Force inventory as trainers, operated by Bombardier. None with the Canadian Coast Guard as far as I know.

Wildlife & Fisheries use them, Todd said he saw one just recently where he is working right now, the green and gold one.  Got a couple of the RVHP kits, the mentioned before version and an RAF one
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

The Beriev Be-200 Altair is one nice looking aircraft. Amazing how well the boat hull and fuselage is blended together. I don't know why more of these types are not used for SAR. It seems to make a very good water bomber.

Couldn't agree more, I got the A Model kit as soon as I saw it, but not sure what version it's going to be built into yet.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

The Armstrong Whitworth A.W.660 Argosy with gull wings would make a smashing seaplane. The existing wing and engines look a bit low if kept in place .
Thinking along the lines of a beach off loading for the Royal Marines or Royal Navy.

Captain Canada

It's the DFO who use them. At one time there were red CCG coloured ones, green amd gold, and there was also at least one 'stealth' bird that was a dark grey colour. I think they are all contracted tho, and not on the Gov't books per se.

There is an interesting piece on the MC-12W Liberty and other sneaky King Airs in Air Iternational November 2014. Lots of lumps and bumps.

Japanese Secret Projects Vol 2 which I got at Telford has information and a full colour 3 view of the Kawanishi KX-3 flying boat. Designed 9at least projected and schemed) circa 1943 as a large overwater transport aircraft.

Span 590 ft - 180 m
Lgth 531 ft - 162 m
Height 116 ft - 35.4 m

Weight loaded 920,000 lbs - 417,304 kgs

Crew 24, passengers 900

Engines - 12 x NE201 turboprops and 6 x NE330 turbojets.

Has to be one of the largest aircraft ever schemed ? The 3 view makes it look a very nice aircraft and it would look nice sitting next to a Hughes Hercules making the latter look rather small

One for Arnold at Anigrand I think

Strewth, I'll say so! At 590 ft span that's almost TWICE as big as the Hughes Hercules. That's EIGHT feet wide in 1/72 scale!!!  :o

Im betting the RN had carriers with shorter flight deck's than that wing span
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

You'd win the wager!  RN  Attacker/Ruler class  (USN Bogue class) had a length of 495 feet.

Have the wing pivot 900 and it could double up as an escort carrier...
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.
