Is there anyone out there who can help me (and I know there are plenty of you out there who would say that I am beyond help! ) with a copy of the Broplan instruction/camouflage pattern sheet for the Swearingen Metro III Tp-88 AWACS.

Scanned image would do fine as would a photocopy, or even a discarded coffee/tea/beer/wine stained one would do.

I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

OGL has come up with the goods

NEXT: Does anyone know what are the correct paints to use for the Swedish splinter schemes?
I do not mind Acrylics or enamels, or in fact any medium.

Note that the splinter scheme was developed primarily to hide aircraft flying low above the terrain and  - secondly - to assist in hiding them while on the ground. As the AEW&C/AWACS function is a high altitude mission, splinter scheme would be unlikely and the SAAB S100B Argus which is the platform actually used by the SwAF is LoVis grey/grey as per the J35J and JA37 slightly further down in the table in the IPMS site.

That said - the splinter camo IS sexy.. :)

Indeed, indeed!

There are two precedents however.
The Tp-88 AWACS wore a splinter camouflage scheme.
The RAF's first VC-10 tanker wore a camouflages scheme of Dark Green/Dark Grey over Light aircraft grey when it was first rolled out, although it never wore that scheme in service.

Also the model I am working on is slightly, VERY slightly, based on the Shacklton AEW2. Well at least the radome is. Lets face it the poor old Shack NEVER operated at higher levels. Good grief what do you expect, you have RR engines, leather seats, and no pressurisation!

Finally, as has been said, the splinter scheme looks SO sexy!!!!!!

So I am guessing that you are building a Tp-88 with a Shackleton type radar?

Your precedenting a/c was the only example to do so - and only as a marketing gimmick. The backstory is that the Air Force who had procured the Metro as a VIP-transport, actually was turned down by the royal family (and the PM, then the pretty well-stuffed Mr Persson), them preferring to privately rent a civilian machine as they found the Metro uncomfortably  narrow inside. The problem was rather quickly solved as SAAB just had launched their SF340 and one was swiftly procured by the SwAF:s VIP flight and properly painted in blue and white.
The now redundant Metro was the easiest target for Ericsson Radar, just looking for a demonstrator carrier to the fair season. And - as we all agree on - the splinter camo IS sexy, also in the eyes of politicians procuring arms..

Ah, one last thing - the number 89 is not vacant in the SwAF. It's used for the CASA 212. May I suggest any number between 92 and 99 instead, also suggesting the more appropriate letter "S" for "Spaning" (translated into "reconnaissance", see also the SAAB S100 Argus above) rather than the Tp which denotes transports?
Come to think of it, as the S letter wasn't used on the type 88 (Metro) due to thye fact that the a/c never was operational, why not rectify that little glitch, assuming the Ericsson radar never got "live"? Then you have a perfectly reasonable and very, very logical S88 Havsörnen (Sea Eagle)

Good luck with your Metro. I'm eagerly awaiting pics.

i for one think the splinter scheme would be highly amusing on a shackelton AEW2, but i don't have shares in a
masking tape company which you would need.
