My father (a retired engineer)tells me  that this is merely good engineering practice........under promise and over deliver!

Seeing as the underside of the pod has access panels for the gun bay and engines I thought that the radiators etc would look good on the upper surface. Would there be any issues with this placement?

The radiators on the Spitfire aren't completely inside the ducts - they are inside the wings too. There is probably enough space on your nacelle to do that, so I can't see a problem. Other than since you are using paired Griffons you will need 2 more of radiators that size.
