Hi,

I like to share some pictures with you from one of the projects I'm currently working on..

It started when i got intrigued by the technological progress made by the Soviets back in the 50-ies when Chroesjev came to power after the dark and suppressing regime of Stalin. With this new and more liberated regime, all kinds of technological progress was made. This was the age when the Soviet spaceplan was conceived, the ekranoplans were developed and also many aeronautical development were put to the test. Spirited by the same technological race in the west some spies might have copied concepts at that time in development by the west. This is what might have been when the Martin XB-51 was copied by the Soviets.....

I'm still working on the project as you van see. Progress is slowly (long hours working for the boss). It started with two revell He-177 fuselages in 1/72. Both were cut and put together. Cockpit is the He-177 unit with pavla Mig-15 bangseats. Bombbay's of the He-117 were used. Part of the front bombbay was transferred to a wheel bay. In style with the Soviet origins and era, it will be tandem geared with outriggers. Wings and stabilo's are 1:48 F-100. The tailunit required some scratchbuilding to accommodate the intake for the rear engine and the rear defense turret (not finished yet). Engines are B-58 with pavla jetpipe and nozzle.

Sorry, don't know how to insert pictures in a posting.....

The front engines aren't put on the model yet and have to be positioned a bit futher aft and lower on the fuselage. The tailunit is not on the model yet and is a reworked RA-5 unit from the scrapbox.

I hope you like it and please, need some help with making up a story...
Your input is welcome!

Hahaha, thanks everybody.  When i'm not modelling, i'm driving the Pacer...restored the thing 2 year ago. Now restoring a 1:1 cadillac.

I started building "what-if's" last year with the altered Hughes 500 and enjoy myself 100%. Never was a rivetcounter...Now this project and many other madcap creations will appear. There is an An-12 with AW Argosy features coming up....

yeah, the front resembles a dumb cow looking kinda stupid. The rear is more or less a UFO...It's got the inline 6 258 CUI (4.2 liters). lots of torque but no HP....what a pity!

Nice project - reminds me of various Luft-'46 things, which means it's very credible that the Soviets might have got their hands on it and developed it. Look forwards to seeing this develop.

I love the Kamov/Hughes too: really had to look twice at that....

Looks like a collaboration between Bartini and Tsybin...
Very nice.
What if... I had a brain?

Kinda reminds me of the Ju 287

I believe the Soviets got their hands on at least some of the data of that project.

The Ju 287 was also a bitsa - the fuselege was based on the He 177.

The major difference was the forward swept wings.

In order to post pics from flickr, click on the "square with an arrow pointing outwards" symbol under the pic, it opnes a menu with linking options. Choose "Grab the HTML/BBcode" option and tiock the "BBcode" option.
Now Flickr offers various picture sizes in d ropdwon menu - just copy the whole link here into your post, and the respective picture should appear, including the Flickr title and a hyperlink.

The Wooksta!

No, the Soviets got the entire Ju 287 project, including the factory (demolished brick by brick and transplanted east), the prototypes and the entire design team.
