Been a while since I`ve done a whif, but been working on this one for a couple of months to round the year off.

No long backstory for this one so clear your mind and lets imagine `What If` the Sea Vixen had gone into service on time with the USN showing an interest and purchasing it as a stop gap prior to the F-4 Phantom. VF-112 took the Vixen into combat in the last few months of the Korean War. Ok.., a bit of a long shot, but perhaps she may have looked like this?

Excellent!

That does look the business, specially with the 'Winders under the inner wings, great thinking.

Wow! Just look's so American. It's got that Grumman 'cat' feel to it, don't you think?

Long shot ? That shot looks right up the middle to me ! Great job....she looks perfect in those USN colours and markings....I bet the Marines used them too !

The model itself looks awesome. The colours suit her perfectly, the weathering and wheels look real, and the weapons and open canopies really finish her off.

One of the most under appreciated whiffing aeroplanes out there. Maybe that will all change when Airfix announces the new 1/72nd scale bird for 2014.

  :tornado:

Certainly does! Looks just right in USN markings.

I love the Sea Vixen, one day I'm going to do a 'modernised' version.

I like it very much.  Time frame is a bit off for Korea, but nevermind. Like the MiG kill marking!

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Looks good in those colors. I'm not sure they would have been around in time for the Korean War. But a few might still be flying during the early Vietnam War. Albeit in gull gray over white.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

I'd love to see one in the light grey over white scheme, perhaps with big jolly rogers or sunbursts on the tails.

Great stuff!

Way cool!!! For Vietnam, maybe a tanker or ECM bird/ It would look cool as a member of the Gulf of Tonkin Yatch Club. Adios, Larry.

Turned out a lot better than my effort from many moons ago. ;D

I built it around September 2007 according to the photos title :)
