Cheers guys !

My father had taken ill earlier this year, and we spent almost every weekend driving to Montreal to see him and help out. He has since passed. I bought myself an RCAF tartan tie and did his eulogy. He was proud of his service ! And afterwards, having folks congregate at the Legion from all over Canada was great, until we all caught the Covid  :banghead:

Things are getting back to normal slowly here. Been doing lots of yard work and steady at work. I've got more than a few kits on the go as usual, and nothing finished as usual. Probably enjoying the beer a little too much but that's life ( eh ) I'll try and check in a little more often ! I'll also be posting a few pics soon.

Cheers !

Sorry about your Dad. Lost mine a year ago Febuary. Nothing can really fill that void. I find myself listening to Tom Petty's song "I won't back down" fairly often these days.

Please also accept my condolences.

Having lost my own old man a few years ago, I think I know where you are. Even if it was due, it's still frustrating. I still, three years after his passing, find myself wanting to ask him about small things.

But it's life. We are meant to live, breed and die, and preferably doing if having a laugh. So I think you're on the right track, celebrating him and his life by moving on with yours.

Chin up, take care and don't forget to reach out if you feel too down.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

Much sympathy on your dad's death, captain.    I lost my mum in November last year (at very nearly 96 years old).   It's the end of an era  and now it's up to you to fly the family flag, celebrate his life and  live your own to the full.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Many condolences Capt. Even though it was 30 years ago that my dad died I still miss him, but I still remember him with affection and a smile

Thinking of you here too Todd.

If it wasn't for my Dad I'd not be the engineer I grew up to be, nor would aircraft have fascinated me the way they do. He put me in the first aircraft I ever sat in, a Hurricane at age 4  ;D, and he arranged my first flight, in an RAF Dominie at age 12 or so.

Dad's are vital to people like us, and it's a huge loss when they aren't there any more.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

And here too.  The last time I saw my father was Memorial Day, 2011; and I'd driven up from ACY to participate in the Cresskill parade with the Legion Post.  But while I'd come up for my duty weekends on the Ambulance squad, I'd made the decision to not visit him after he'd gone into hospital after I'd heard his diagnosis from my mother.  I wanted to remember him as he was that last weekend.

And, you're quite right Kit.  There were times I wanted to talk to him about the bus and the Volvo.

Now, I need to go find who's cutting up onions in the office.
